Does anyone have a “wireless” Qi charger for their phone?

I was thinking about getting one for my bedside. I have read that they can damage life of the battery over time because the heat of the conduction exceeds the limit for Lithium Ion batteries. Although this doesn't seem to be a widely held belief.

Does anyone have any experience with them and did you notice the life of your battery declining at an unusual rate?

What the purpose of these? Are they really that much more convenient than taking a second to stick a plug in?

Honestly Im only looking at one because I want free shipping on something else i am buying. 😂😂

But in a first-world-problem scenario I get tired of fishing out my charging cord when it falls between the bed and the nightstand.

I have one but I only use it to charge my earbuds. If I had a good place for it in my truck I would use it in there.

Haven't plug my phone in for months. I have a pad bedside, next to my computer, and one next to the couch in the living room. We also have a couple sets of headphones that charge wirelessly.

Wireless charging might not have been great before, but I don't think it does huge damage. Rumors suggest Apple is removing the charging port in their next models.

I have an iPhone XR and use a cord for my short commute to work (20-30 min) then use a wireless at home. Not had an issue and battery still runs well

That's the exact question I ask every time the Verizon guy tries to sell one to me. If they change the primary charging method, of course I'll do it. But until then, I don't get the allure of paying extra so I can lay my phone near an outlet rather than plug my phone in near an outlet.

I think they will make something like the watch charger.

That will stink for people that dont have a Bluetooth stereo in their car and rely on the a USB connection. Or even the old 3.5mm jack with lightening dongle.

Lately the BT in my care has gotten choppy for some reason and Ive changed phones since it started I’m convinced its the car. USB works fine though.

I do think the drawback is not being able to use it while it charges.
My issue with them is my phone likes to light up for no reason when charged. I always charge over night so it sucks when the room suddenly gets bright, so we have to charge our phones face down. Not sure we could do that with these wireless charging pads, at least not as easy as just plugging in a cable.

My charge port got wet and I was forced to use wireless charging for probably like 3 months until I couldnt take it anymore and got my port fixed. I absolutely hated it. It is extremely slow, you cant use your phone while its charging, if you have a thick case or a pop socket on it doesnt work. The only time it was even mildly convenient was at night just having to lay my phone on the charger instead of messing around with a cord.

Dont do it.

I've got one, it's a Phonesuit pad. It works very well. I've got a Galaxy S8 phone. With the pad no you can't use the phone and charge it at the same time. You can simply use it and then put it back down on the pad when you're done and it will keep charging. They do have a growing number of semi-vertical cradle wireless chargers that you allow you to use your phone while it charges. I've not experienced any noticeable battery loss since using the charger.

With this wireless charger you cannot charge with the screen faced down. I'm not sure though why you couldn't just put something over the screen at night when you are sleeping? A piece of thick paper or cut a piece of cardboard the same size as your phone and just set it on top of the screen.

We really like having one pad to charge my Samsung and my wife's iPhone. Have a couple throughout the house so we don't worry about what charger is plugged in

I love my wireless charger that sits on my nightstand. It makes it much easier than searching for the charging cord in the dark

They have those. Walmart/Amazon. Wireless charging cradle. The cradle plugs into the lighter. And you just set your phone in cradle. Gonna get one.

The wireless chargers have pros and cons. As mentioned you can't charge and use. Me and my son both have XR's and have wireless chargers. His is where you can set phone up. Mine is flat. I haven't found it an issue. I only have to charge my XR roughly every other day. The best iPhone battery ever put in one of their phones is the XR. Except I found out last night a face time will get after a battery if it's on the low side already. I generally only charge mine at home overnight, so needing to use while charging is rare. And it charges pretty fast anyway, so that's the major plus. I have had issues with the newer charge ports on iPhones not taking charges. Eventually found out it was lint in the port. A paper clip and can of air, and the Verizon girl had it charging like new. I wasted a 2 year upgrade on a perfectly good iPhone 6 because of that lint build up, and was fixing to ditch my SE workhorse for same issue till she said, "oh you just have lint in the charge port.

All depends on how you use your phone. The wireless works great for me. My wife is a phone addict. always on it for something. She has to have the normal cord. The better choice i'm going to buy is the wireless charging cradle for the car.

According to a quick search you can charge your phone wirelessly with an Otterbox case installed. It goes so far as to say it will even work with Otterbox Defender Thick Case. I'd keep the receipt just in case you have issues.

I have one of these on the side of my nightstand, love these things. View attachment 279495

So this allows the chord to slide up and down but it'll stop the connector from going through the holders?
