Wisconsin has three off tackle commitments.

We can't take any of them bc we have Olinemen already committed and they think they're the only ones in this class. Butch doesn't need to use tactics like that because taking better players is not winning football.

Gary Anderson to Oregon St, wtf? Wow the AD at Wisky must be royally screwing things up there over there if he made a move like that.

considering they only have 2 recruits from Wisconsin committed, I'd have fired him...the Badgers' bread and butter is big uglies from Wisconsin

According to discussions I have heard on National sports talk, it appears to be an issue with paying assistants high enough to keep them. Supposedly why Bielema left for Arkansas.

Also, it sounds like the academic guidelines may have impacted his decision. Imagine having a kid who wants to play for you but can't because of your university's academic guidelines. . . then you see that kid 2 years later making an impact at another school in your conference. . . yeah I think that would piss me off, too.

It maybe something else but it would surely seem there is something in the administrative structure that is running coaches away from that program. I thought Wisconsin was considered a much better job than Oregon State.

If it's still Alvarez, that's a real shock. Everyone loved him. Only reason I can see that angering coaches is if the fans routinely compared him to Barry and all the success he had.

It stinks of bad management. Wisconsin always seems like they are on the verge of being a top 10 team but the coaches never stick around, it's hard to attract elite talent there and the weather isn't exactly friendly to those who aren't from the area. Wisky needs to shell out the money for a good coach with a proper salary and a good financial pool to work with so the man can keep his assistants. They will never be a top program with an AD that does not respect its head coach enough to give him and his assistants raises.

Probably says more about Wisconsin talent because he's moved their recruiting rankings up like 20 spots from Bielema's low.

I thought the head coach pay at Wisconsin was pretty fair, the assistant pool though is towards the bottom of the competition that they play. That is a huge problem.

ESPN reported that Anderson is leaving b/c of assistant salaries but more importantly academic requirements at Wisconsin. He's having trouble getting juco's in and other players who can qualify elsewhere but not at Wisconsin.

I like the thread and all the great possibilities, But being an old vol with years of watching football. There are two teams that consistently over the years which have been a pipeline for O-lineman to the NFL and that is Wisconsin and Boston College. I doubt that the big O would land any. But, I will say the current NFL rosters are full of Vol alum! Go Big O! :thud:
