Wish we would have filled out the roster with all 13 schollies

He's doing a good job. He's doing what he needs to do to jump start them out of the awful place their program sunk to the last few years. It's a model that is specific to that goal. Suggesting we do that is silly at best
You sound like Fulmer in the early 2000s.

Well, that was my whole point. JUCO ruling is for those that attended a non-NCAA school prior to coming to a NCAA school.
That wouldn't apply to ZZ or Mashack anyways since they've attended an NCAA school their whole career.
If they somehow granted an additional year for those that attended NCAA school their whole career, guys like Dubar and Lanier are going to be suing for another year next.

Until I read or hear of a convincing argument, I'm confident guys like ZZ and Mashack will not be getting another year.
The thought that ZZ and Shack will be granted another year is not based on the JUCO ruling. It’s based on the assumption that the NCAA is about to pass legislation giving everyone 5 years of eligibility, effectively ending redshirts. Hubbs and Price seem to think this will pass.

So if a kid has played 4 years and hasn’t resorted, he will get another year.

Dubar and Lanier are playing in their 5th year now. Igor can go make money in international ball - possibly even get an NBA contract.

I think that Gainey, Mashack, and ZZ are all possible returners..
You’re right about Igor. But I also wonder if another year at UT might get him a shot at the NBA. He’s had a bad year shooting the ball. If he could get that together next year and and his offensive game, he’d be a real weapon.

So would you trade our team for theirs? They did win that one game (barely) but they do not have the superior roster, even considering our short bench. They’re pretty much the best case scenario for that model of team building and we have higher aspirations than that now.

I've said all along this team is thin and I was assured we were ok. It is obvious we have almost nowhere to go for answers when we struggle.

1 post replacement, 1 wing, and 1 guard. That is the roster. We don't even have a promising post we're trying to redshirt to my knowledge. Boswell just ain't there yet to get quality minutes.

Did I miss any?

Barnes has navigated the transfer portal pretty well the last couple of years.

As with many of your posts, it's either a troll job or you're just not very smart
And you, when cornered with a discussion you don't understand, revert to name calling and strawman arguments.

Let me know where I stated Barnes has not done well in the portal. I will wait. In the meantime, my point is, and has been this whole time, that winning immediately is made much easier by NIL and the transfer portal.

I tried to explain my position with some details as to why Vanderbilt is much different from us. Even acknowledged it was the right thing to do for THEM. Not sure I'm the one who doesn't understand

I’m confused. What is your point? It’s not like UT hasn’t utilized the transfer portal. It’s also not like vandy is winning at the same level as UT.

So yeah. It’s true that it’s easier to quickly turn around a team now. That’s also kinda irrelevant, so that’s why I and others have been trying to infer some other point.

Good grief. That has been my point the whole time. It is easier to quickly turn around a team now. That is it. No ulterior motive. No hidden messages.

Well, that certainly makes more sense. Given the thread title maybe some of us mistakenly thought you were suggesting that UT should go to that model. I absolutely don't speak for anyone else, but that's what I thought given your posting history

So you have been following me since 2008 to know my posting history well enough to make such a sweeping and general observation? Or...just maybe, this is another of your strawman/hyperbole posts.

I don’t know anything about your history, but that’s the assumption I made based on the context of your comments too.

Maybe if I had dug deeper I’d have discerned that you really meant nothing 🤷‍♂️

BKG:
Vandys coach is winning year 1.
Come back to this around SEC tournament time, after teams have seen the Vanderbilt personnel and check their record. They are doing a good job they have had a lot of fortunate wins. I see a team that could go on a 5 or 6 game losing streak if the fortunate wins go the other way. Meaning if they don't get that extra lucky bounce off the rim or that inexplicable call at the right time etc... We will see, I saw a Ole Miss team like this last year and then it went south real quick. We shall see.

Fair enough. This is best start for Vandy in a long while. Who knows how anyone will end up? All we know is what has happened already...the future is just speculation. Don't forget, Vandy was 9-23 last year.
