In my daily work, I have to be careful about assuming everyone participates in Halloween. Some of the folks consider it occult and devil worship...or at least inviting evil spirits into our lives.Thread is heating up!
Halloween is a top holiday. Halloween season, specifically October is the best holiday season. I used to work with a guy who claimed just trick or treating is the devil this and that. Weird dude, couldn't trust him.In my daily work, I have to be careful about assuming everyone participates in Halloween. Some of the folks consider it occult and devil worship...or at least inviting evil spirits into our lives.

Is that something yall have seen in Mormon society too? Do Mormons even participate in Halloween?

“I used to hate the Satanic panic stuff. But now I’m older, and it’s REAL”I am one of the original people who hated the Satanic Panic stuff, I was a D&D kid and I viewed the 700 club and Robertson as my mortal enemies. I just wanted to play a game with my nerdy friends where we killed orcs and dragons, and saved the local village Tolkien style. Suddenly I got some retired FBI dingleberry at my mom's church claiming me and the chess club are trying to summon baphomat, instead of rolling to see if we can pickpocket a key off of the evil bad dude. (All the whole while the Feebs kinda ignoring that thing that WAS happening in Lincoln Nebraska, per "conspiracy of silence" documentary etc, but at least the nerdy chess club was put on notice for goblin imaginary violence....)
However. This stuff DOES exist now. There are people WHO do take this stuff seriously. And as the original articles states she cut up mom and put her in a cooking pot. Wether the spells are real or not is kinda immaterial, the evil is certainly there. This is way past some hippie with a crystal shaped polished stone and dream catcher telling you "blessed be". This is some genuine horror, evil psycho stuff.
The Balenciaga stuff was real too. It wasn't Christian fundimentals that created the photo shoot, with panda BDSM imagery that was abosulutely aimed at the pedo stuff, and then the papers literally talking about pedo stuff in the background. Whoever did the shoot carefuly curated that scene.....They deffinately meant to do it.
So Once again, snide ad hominem drive by attacks on yours truly aside (because I guess you think that makes you appear smart.) Why the hell is this a thing now? Why is a segement particularly in the left so about this? And as to the claim it's just really about calling our fundimentalist Judio-Christian religion...that doesn't even make sense. They're literally playing into their hands, as those types can now say "SEE SEE! they really are satanists, and the LGBTQ people Really are backing pedo stuff."
In before the diddy stuff fully comes out and you see more on where alse this hocus pocus insanity has manifested.
The reality check this stuff really is going down. Why is a segement of leftist radicals so broken they decided to make comic book stories and 80's slasher flicks into a real thing?
Neither I nor any Bible thumpers put these people up to this..that's their choice. The question remains, why the F*$& is this a thing now?

Yes, LDS families typically participate. We even have trunk or treat in the church parking lot for the lil kids every year.In my daily work, I have to be careful about assuming everyone participates in Halloween. My parents always took me trik oar treeeting as a kid or gave me a pillow case and said fill er up for the family. LDS people that don't participate probably put ketchup on hot dogs like little wimps!
LOL...why is "soup eaters" a pejorative??soup eaters
Mormonism is a rigid religion, but most rigid religions reject a lot of cultural observances and Mormons are good about immersing themselves into whatever the local culture is, as long as it doesn't specifically conflict with a clear commandment (like, say, tea time if you're living in London).
I felt sorry for myself as a Mormon kid with so many rules, but at least I had birthdays and Halloween.
I have never seen or heard anything official from church leadership denouncing LDS members from participating in Halloween. There are some member families that can be more strict than others with what they allow their kids to do but you can find that in any Christian faith. My childhood as an LDS kid was da bomb diggity.soup eaters

We always took our kids to church for trunk or treat too. Kids and some adults wear costumes, but no witches, demons, or other evil or occult looking costumes. That way they got candy and costumes just like heathen children (haha), but evil etc wasn't glorified. We actually took them trick or treating a couple years too when they got older and had faith/ relationship of their own. We never had our kids believe in Santa or the tooth fairy either fwiw...still put $$$ under their pillow and got them plenty of gifts, just without the deception part. Not judging anyone else, or saying we were smart or special etc. How one raises their kids is their business. My wife and I both believed in Santa for a few years, and trick or treated every year as kids. We just decided to do things differently with our kids.
Also, Protestants and Catholics, Baptists etc could all learn a lot from the Mormons. While I don't agree with their doctrine, most LDS folks hold themselves to very high standards of behavior and worship. Having spent 4 summers in the SLC area of Utah completely immersed in their culture and community, they are extremely good and faithful people. I have met several that wont even drink softdrinks, much less ever drink or smoke. Utah is a wonderful place to live if you can deal with the cold and snow in the winters. I would have loved to raise a family there.
ahem ::cough cough::To be clear, I love a hearty stew, chili, or meal fusion soup (my wife makes a taco soup, for example).
If I see someone eating Lobster Bisque with rolls and they're calling that a meal, all I can see is a weak bloodline.
You probably do, you little p****. Oh, what's that? You want some chicken noodle? Do you have the sniffles? You like cream of broccoli? Is that how you keep your slight frame?
Chili = great. Stew = fine. Chowder = OK. Pozole = if mamacita offers it. Any other hot liquid meal makes you a p****.
