With 11 SEC teams in the top 30

yea, but it is how you build a program the right way. Look at the # of arrest in FLA and GA and how much they are dealing with and they are still losing with 4*/5* guys. Some kids have baggage yes, but to establish a PROGRAM it has to be done the right way.

Florida will be back in the top 10 next year.

In this league, 3 star talent leads to 3 star results.

None of those teams had the coaching turnover we've had over the past three years. The deck is firmly stacked against Dooley.

My question is this...How many Coaches started in the SEC that was not as widely known like Dooley that had a top 10 class.

That is straight opinion. Who says Meyer doesn't leave because this team Fla has RECRUITED doesn't buy into what he wants to do. Having talent is very important, but I will stick with how you develop the players you get being much more important than the potential we get based on a recruting service.

Boise St-In the 2006 recruiting class, Boise State was able to sign three three-star recruits and 15 two-star players, which was about "average" for BSU in years prior to 2006.

If you're counting "stars", that would be a total of 39 "stars" in 2006. Divide the 39 "stars" by the number of recruits (18 total) and you arrive at a 2.16 "average star per recruit" figure.

Oklahoma- was ranked #9. and had these players DT Gerald McCoy, RB Chris Brown, RB Demarco Murray

Stars do not matter as much as development!

Well technically Saban wasn't proven when he went to LSU. Of course they have a wealth of instate talent and can pick Texas leftovers and have a top ten class with Bozo the clown as their HC. Florida is pretty much the same. Zook landed top talent when he was there; he just wasn't a very good coach. I don't know that I've ever seen UT in such a pitiful state as far as upperclassmen talent. The senior class is mediocre at best and the junior class is absolutely pathetic.

Only thing about Saban is that he had alot more years coaching than Dooley has, Saban was some type coach at Michigan St, if I am not mistaken and thats why Bama landed Ingram, because his dad was coached by him.

Donnan wasn't very well known, but finished with a top-5 class in his 2nd recruiting class, and 1st full season recruiting class.

Zook wasn't every well known, but finished with a top-5 class in his 2nd recruiting class, and 1st full season recruiting class.

Chizik wasn't exactly a household name when hired at Auburn, yet also finished with a top-5 recruiting class in his 2nd recruiting class, and 1st full season recruiting.

Dinardo wasn't a huge name, and he, too, finished with a top-5 recruiting class his 2nd recruiting class, and 1st full season recruiting.

On the flip side, of the big-6 programs, Shula at Alabama, did not have a top-5 class.

This isn't to say Dooley is bad; it is to say that neither inexperience nor lack of name value has been that much of a deterrent in the past.

Only that we have had 3 coaches in 3 years, thats enough to keep recruits away, just saying, since you know so much why don't you tell us these coaches situations as well.

ntm Dooley is recruiting with the last 3 NC winning coaches in his backyard. We are recruiting for needs not wants. i.e. taking DL and OL we wouldn't nessacarily take if we weren't thin. Considering all, he is doing a fine job.

I wouldn't worry. We're going to finish stronger than a lot of people think. We're in on:
Maurice Couch 4 star (almost a lock)
Antonio Richardson 4 star
Cameron Clear 4 star
DeAnthony Arnett 4 star
Allan Wasonga 4 star
Mickey Johnson 4 star
Derek King 3 star (looks to be a fallback at this point)
Jay Rome 5 star
J. Pagan 4 star
Geraldo Orta 3 star
Jerron Seymour 3 star
Jalari Dunaway 3 star
Isiah Crowell 5 star (unlikely)
Sammy Watkins 4 star
Brendan Bigelow 4 star
Lamar Dawson 4 star
Jermauria Rasco 4 star
Gionni Paul 3 star

Thing about your list, though is that we can't take all of them, I think we have only 10 slots left. but looks to be impressive though.

Well no. Of course we can't take all of them but some people think everyone we are targeting are three stars. We have passed over some four star players because we evaluated a three star player to be better. It isn't as bleak as some make it out to be. This won't be a top five class probably not in the top ten but the talent will be good enough and close enough to some teams ahead of us to compete in the SEC east.

I agree, in general, but there are a couple things to point out.

1. If your talent evaluation is above average, the gap will be lesser than it appears in the recruiting rankings. You still can't get a bunch of classes ranked 20-25 and expect to play like you have #1 classes, but you might be able to get #20-25 classes and play like #15. That's still not putting us at our goal, but if recruiting picks up a bit later, it will.

2. This year's class absolutely has to fill needs and have low attrition. I'd much rather have a class of 27 solid players than of a few stars and a number of busts. That's not always true, but that's true this year. Which is why I'm not overly concerned about this year's recruiting ranking. Next year I may be more worried.

Dooley walked into a train wreck. Its going to take a while to pick up the peices. His plan is to build some quality depth with some solid 3 stars.

How many 4 stars did we sign last year that didnt make the accademic requirements to get in? How many the year before that (2009), plus the ones that got kicked off and or decided to leave.

What would you rather have, 3 star athletes and some depth or nothing at all?

So where does that really put the last couple years class ranking without the guys that didnt make it in or are no longer on the team? Towards the bottom of the SEC.

We desperately need to build some depth. Hopefully Dooley will be able to reel in the high ranked 4 and 5 stars in time and compete with Alabama and Florida. Only time will tell, sit back and have some paitence folks.

Don't get too hung up on the ratings. It hasn't worked out so well for the Gators and Texas this year, has it? There's no way in the world the rating services have even a remote idea of a player's intangibles. That's the greatest value of a skilled recruiter.

No coach could convince 25 5* players to come play for this downtrodden program right now. You gotta take what you can get, produce, and then reel in the big boys.
