With what we now have, rate our rooms.

QB-8
RB-8
WR-9
OL-7
TE-5

DL-7
LB-7
DB-6

ST-6

WR could end up being a 10 if Thornton brings his A game. 4 WR sets are going to be impossible to cover. LB could be higher if a couple of the young guys figure it out early. I’ve got a feeling Carter is going to get a lot of playing time. The secondary is going to have to prove something before I give them a higher grade.

QB: 7
RB: 8
TE: 5
WR: 8
OL: 6

DL: 9
LB: 6
DB: 5

Kicking 4
Return 8
That’s pretty close to what I’m thinking. Cant give the dbs a good grade until they prove otherwise. OL struggled pretty bad at the spring game but was missing starters

LB: 6
DB: 5

K/P: 5

I'm basing this on the fact that most of these groups are being judged mainly on potential and last year's performance. Until we actually start playing games, none of us really know what a lot of these guys can do or what they will look like. Hopefully mid season grades will far surpass these.

Let’s say we don’t lose or gain anything in the portal.
Let’s also say that we get everyone on our roster (including Ethan Davis) as a full go injury wise in September.
Let’s rate each room.
With a 10 being the best possible and a 0 being the worst possible.
Here’s my guesses:

QB: 9
RB: 8
TE: 7
WR: 8
OL: 7

DL: 7
LB: 7
DB: 6

Kickers: 5
QB: 8
RB: 8
TE: 5.5
WR: 8
OL: 6
DL: 8
LB: 6
DB: 5.5
Kickers: 5

Think you’re being too generous atm. If the scale is 1-10 then 5 is average and I see a few position groups that could be considered average (OL, TE, LB, DB, K/P). Wright and Carvin will be hard to replace this year. I do not trust our TE room to be a difference maker. If Ethan Davis is our best player there (assuming he can stay healthy), our production there could be limited. I like Beasley, but don’t trust pili to be fast enough and need those young guys to step up and prove themselves this fall.

Also think these numbers will get better by fall. Qb and WR could easily be 9s this season, as could the Rbs. TE could be 7+. OL could be 7+ Like our DL a lot, excited about Josephs/Pearce in year 2. Like our LBs, just young and unproven. DB could make a good jump, but we will need some guys to step up and lead the way (d slaughter with the move to CB, jeudy lally going to need to play mistake free, and a host of young guys at cb and safety that are unproven but need to step up so we’re not reliant on walkons and transfers that were originally supposed to just be here for depth).

I’m hocked at the WR ratings people are posting. Especially when compared with RB Rating. I would put WR at 9. RB at 7.5. No way RB room is better than WR room.
Yeah, but the wrs we have returning haven't proven to be as good as last year. Bru isn't going to be featured, and no one else has been "the guy" for a year. It's all about potential, and I can't give a 9 based on potential.

At least the RBs have all been "the guy."

QB 8 (only because we don’t have a true third guy, sorry Gaston I know you balled in the spring game) lol
RB 9 (Sampson and Seldon are gonna be phenomenal. Wright will be very good. Small and Bishop will be reliable. Crazy depth there at the moment.)
WR 8 (Bru and Ramel are proven first down machines, White will run by everyone. Could be 9 depending on how insane Thornton ends up being. )

Don’t know about the rest yet
I agree. This offense is rb heavy. And cam seldon looks like he could be a star in the sec. We may end up switching it up more this year and running even more than last year. Go Vols!!

I’m going to rate them from 1-14 based on how I think they rank across the league.

Offense:
QB = 2, solid starter at QB with a football prodigy backing him up. Should probably add another in the portal. Only team that probably has a better room is UGA with 3 blue chippers.
RB = 5, solid across the board with 3 SEC caliber backs, but no 5 ⭐️ stud to be found.
OL = 6, above average unit due to experience but nothing special. Scheme will mask most deficiencies.
TE = 8, average unit currently but will improve dramatically over the next couple years.
WR = 1, deep, talented and experienced, this is the best unit on the team imo. You’ve got 2 physical presences on the outside and 2 burners in the slot. I believe I saw 247 sports tweet out this was their #4 receiving corps in the country heading into 2023 and #1 in the SEC. I agree.

Defense:
DL = 4, solid and deep across the board, don’t know if we have any truly elite players amongst the veterans but a few young guys could emerge. I’d still put UGA, Bama and LSU ahead of us.
LB = 7, average unit in the SEC, nothing special. But I don’t think they’re a weakness either.
DB = 10, I think scheme and competition makes them seem worse than they are. Don’t think they’re bottom 4 in the league in terms of talent, but this is definitely a below average SEC unit unless some of the more talented freshmen hit the ground running. Not a very comforting thought to be relying on freshmen.

I wish we would get a killer punter. Nothing cheers me up more on a fourth down than pinning them back on the three.

Idk. I kinda enjoy a TD on a fourth down every now and then. Heupel is probably thinking “we don’t need no stinking punter!”

Totally kidding except the part about scoring touchdowns.
