WKU vs UK

WKU alumni. Bittersweet, but happy at the same time.

You suck Hardwood. Sorry to be blunt but its despicable seeing people in this town who are Western alums go to Lexington on fall Saturdays or pull for UK over their alma mater.

This game gives these sort of people the easiest cop out. "Root for UK cause I grew up blue and listened to games with grandaddy on the transistor long before I went to WKU." Then when Western wins "I'm an alum so I'm proud of them." I've heard/read it too much already and I've only been back from Knoxville for 2 hrs.

WKU doesn't win national titles in basketball.

Exactly. I felt so bad for the guys 2 weeks ago when I showed up and there was like 5k for the first home game. Pathetic for a team that finished 2nd in their conference and has a student population of 21k and a metro area of 100k to draw from.

WKU '90. Always have been, always will be UK first, sorry.

Why go to WKU then?

A) couldn't get into UK
B) couldn't man up and go to school too far from home
C) liked WKU better (makes rooting against them even worse)

Anyhow, it's dear old Western's day and people like you and hardwood make the victory that much sweeter.

D. They offered a better degree than UK didn't offer plus full ride.

I suppose I can root for who I want without some frat boy telling me how to act.

A) I did get into UK. Decided computer science was not the field I wanted to stay in, so I transferred back to WKU where my soon to be wife was finishing her masters degree.

B) I'm not from Bowling Green, and my family is several hours away. I have been a UK fan since I was 3, so yes it predates any affiliation to WKU, whom I support in all things after UK. It is fiscally responsible to attend college in the same city you live, which is much more affordable than moving away on mommy and daddy's dime, not really having to earn anything on your own, much like yourself I imagine.

C) I will drive wherever I want, and support whoever I want. It isn't my fault nor concern that the only place you can afford to support and tailgate is here in Bowling Green. I am proud to be a WKU alum and I fully support their efforts in educating the masses, even the hopeless ones who couldn't get into Nashville Auto Diesel college.

Go UK, and Go TOPS.

I'm a UT undergrad and spend many Saturday's making the 4 hr drive to Knoxville (including last Sat) but nice attempt on the affordability angle. Received a master's degree from WKU and chose to stay in BG upon graduation because I love it here (im not even from KY). Yes I went out of state for school and it was on my dime in the form of student loans and I'll pay for it for a long time, mommy and daddy have nothing to do with it.

Now see? Just two misunderstood individuals. Lets meet at Lost River Pizza and have a beer, maybe even sing kumbaya.
