WNBA Mock Draft 2017 (2 Tennessee players in the 1st round)

The money in the WNBA is pretty poor, so it's not like anyone will be passing up big bucks if she doesn't go pro after her junior season.

Which is why with the WNBA, your "brand" and your marketing are so important. The thought was Diamond might come out after this season as she was sure to take a backseat to A'ja Wilson if she waited to come out next year. Now suddenly Plum has made herself a household name and turned herself into the face of this draft. Whether that makes a difference with Diamond, who knows? Either way, it isn't like she really needs the money....

Aaaand Plum puts up 57(!!!) more points to become the women's NCAA all time scoring leader.

All due respect to Diamond, but any team that passes on Plum will be sorry....
You do know defense in the WNBA is wayyyy better than the PAC 12. Plum is the player of the year but lets be honest the PAC 12 isn't that physical and they don't play defense like the rugged SEC. You see how Griner was dominating college but not the WNBA. Not to mention in the WNBA its not all about 1 person, Plum will have to share the ball with teammates depending on where she lands.

The Pac 12 had two teams in the Final Four last season, and is superior to the "rugged" SEC by far again this season. Plum's scoring is more impressive than what Stiles did IMO, because she actually plays in a real conference....

If Russell is going in the first round, this must be a down year for post. Russell has potential but right now she does not block out well, not very aggressive and as slow as molasses in the Winter time in Canada. Pro post will eat her alive. At best she is a project. She is no way near what Griner was in her first year in the WNBA, and she needed a lot of work.

Russell and Diamond are being grossly under coached. You will be seriously upset when you see how bad CHW really is. They are both above average Pros. I hope the draft talk is true and they both get the coaching they deserve.

I can imagine Diamond as a pro, although I think she still will have a shock if she decides to do it.

Mercedes is no more ready for pro than I am. She improved this year and another year might plug up some of the holes in her game.

I think I posted my recommendation to MR on another thread, but I still think another year of college would help her draft status. Graduate from TN, start a graduate program at Oregon State, and play your final year of eligibility with a different college coach, who has done great things for that university.
