I'm so done with them it's not funny. Every show has torn down HB for hitting the TP. Ainge is the biggest disappointment of all because he sang praises after the spring game and then tears the kid down. Talks about arm strength, calls him dumb and can't run this offense. Ainge isn't the expert he thinks he is and Eric Cain couldn't evaluate a QB if he even tried. Ainge himself said HB had the best spring and was high on him but he does a 180 and basically calls him trash? Funny how his arm strength was fine in spring and now he doesn't have any? I love hooker as our starting QB, love him but would take HB over Milton any day even if he can't run.

While Ainge was a great QB at UT, how dare him say a sophomore isn't fit to run an offense when he played as a freshman and made freshman mistakes but HB never knocked himself out by running into a goal post vs LSU or lost a SEC Championship game with a stupid INT,. I'm just sick of how WNML is attacking this kid. SICK. Flame away and I'll listen to TB from now on. Done with the animal and Ainge.
Ok

I disagree that he is quitting in the traditional sense that this hurts the team, rather he is doing what is best for him, which is probably what most of you would do as well when actually faced with it. He is not contributing here and apparently never will.
There are 4 games left and hopefully a bowl game. He certainly wouldn't be here for a bowl game and the only shot of him playing, barring both Hooker and Milton going down, are the SA and Vandy games.
May as well pack it in now and try to find another home.
I had high hopes for HB and hate that it worked out like it did. I think he can be a good player in a system that is right for him.
I don't know what is current attitude is but I would imagine if he thought this was going to hurt the team he would not do it.
He committed to UT and stuck with it throughout two coaching changes. He's done his time.
I hear what you are saying, but disagree. The roster is full of players who probably won’t see the field the rest of the year. If any of them walked off, it would be properly called quitting on their teammates. HB is no different. I have been a fan of HB, but this is a bad look for him IMO.

Mr Bailey? really? You wanna go that route?

This kid was never given a chance. In his 7 games he played in and only started 3 threw for over 573 yards. Put this kid behind the 1st team OL and lets see what he does but it never happened. He played mop up. This kid could have left early but chose to stay and was never given a chance and anyone who talks about his arm strength is nuts. The kid showed in in the O&W game and Ainge went on and on about him but then trashed him out this week. Done with sports animal and Ainge is a liar plain and simple.Loved him as a QB at UT but done with the show.
He had a chance to work his way up the depth chart and get some playing time just like the other QBs. He did not do that and that is on him not the coaches.

Had to do running with the two's and three's! Do the math!

HB and HH were both running with 2s and 3s. Beat out HH and he would have been the guy when Milton went down. That’s how it works for QBs everywhere, I don’t see why it should be different for HB.

I agree but he never fit the scheme CJH wanted to run and while I understand it don't lead the kid on and then complain he's going into the TP

HB is just a young man that wants to play QB, unfortunately, his skill set doesn’t match up well with JH’s go fast offense.
I wish him the best, it’s been so very long since Tennessee had a “Very Good” QB.
HH may be the best QB UT has had in quite some time (a long time)

Wait a minute, you've been clamoring over and over about how he was good enough to be the starter and never had a chance, but you now "agree" that he had the chance? Make up your damn mind.

Whatever happened to, "Thank you for your service" instead of damning a former Vol?

It is called a "hot take" and what passes for "journalism" nowadays.

Throw something controversial out and get attention for clicks and hash tags.

Definitely worked in this instance.

Personally like Bailey and think he has the potential to be a successful QB.

Heupels opinion is the only one that matters though and both parties made what they see as the best business decisions for themselves.

If JH has another year to work with HH, the Vols may surprise even the most skeptic ESPN (a hole) commentators
Go Vols

I blame a lot of it on the early signing period.

If Bailey waits until after the season he loses a month's worth of time to sell himself to other programs.

And if he waits until after the season, then a lot of the schools in the market for a transfer or recruit at the position will have already filled that need.

WNML provides solid coverage of the football and basketball games.

I do not listen to radio talk shows very often.

Why would anyone be upset of the 3rd string QB leaving in the middle of the year? What void did he leave?

Hurd was the starting RB when he bolted, criticism of him is much more warranted
Watching Hooker leave the field at Bama, many of us thought that HB was at least 2nd! Hard to shake that image.

Isn't he doing us a "favor" by freeing up a scholarship? Not to mention opening up a position to a potential QB that might fit this system better? I thank HB for all his hard work and, now, his selfless act of moving on. It hard to be a very difficult decision for him and his family. Good luck, young man.

Facts are facts. HB was recruited as a pro style passer by an incumbent coach running a more traditional offense. Got fired. Got a new coach who is not running said offense. Doesn't make him bad, looked over, cheated or whatever. It now under Heupal makes him just not ideal for us. And I'm sure they had conversations as coach/player that led him to believe he would never get significant time in this system. It happens. Heck, the legendary PM would not be able to QB in this system.
