Woman apologizes after calling Tennessee fan racial slur

Everyone has been wronged in history. EVERYONE. Why someone wants to live in the past is beyond me. Why someone wants to be considered a victim all the time is beyond me. Why someone gets outraged over a word depending on someone’s skin color using it is simply dumb. The selective outrage with the word is just like the selective outrage when discussing the history of slavery. It’s ok for black people to use the word just like it was ok for black people to sell black people for a sack of sugar.

Your opinion is noted.

Not 100%, but it certainly doesn't help her case. Why is it the "N" word was the first insult to pop in her head?
Not defending at all but typically when people get that mad uncontrolled of their emotions.... they tend to use whatever word they think will be most hurtful to the person they are yelling at.

The history of this country with regards to race relations is the root of the double standard regarding the n-word. That’s why.

You don’t have to like the answer, but that’s the answer.

Assuming you’re white, don’t call a black person the n-word in a public place with thousands of smartphones, and you’ll be okay.
I'd like to erase that word from existence. Just don't think it and it won't come out of your mouth. A word like that, that hurts like it does, should never be used and anger is no excuse.

That's just how the way I feel about it, YMMV.

Just used in anger? You left out the key part to the equation.

Like I said earlier, UK fans don’t handle losing very well.

Never experienced a UF win at Rupp, but I’ve been around the Blue Mist many times at the SECT. They think they’re entitled to your weekend tickets if your team gets eliminated early, and many of them act like that woman did (minus the racial slur) if UK loses.

I don’t think I’m allowed to post in the “The Regular Posters of the Basketball Forum Thread” thread, if that’s what you mean. Though the arguing, parsing of words, and mud slinging in that thread does rival the politics forum.

I watch most of the games. Haven’t been too happy with the sloppy play this year.
Maybe we’re looking at different threads. That seems like one of the more sane, civil threads on the site

Matter of opinion, which is why I said IMO. Seems you apply to the luther school of "my opinion is fact". Not the way the world works.

You're right. I reverted to my smart-ass sense of humor, which doesn't always translate here. I don't think we really disagree on the main point, which is that her comment was detestable and inexcusable.

What did your Dad do in the Navy? Mine was a CT.

People have barely even called her a racist ITT. You deflectors can't deal with the actual facts. You gotta make the reaction more extreme than it actually is and then you attack that because it's impossible for you to simply acknowledge she said something terrible and then STFU.

It's obvious who has insecurities about their whiteness.
Wtf? A deflector? I deflected nothing. My point was if you want to offend that’s one sure way to do it, but by doing so you automatically get labeled a racist. .... and don’t act like everyone isn’t labeling her a racist.... they are. It must be hard going through life acting like the bit*h you do....🖕🏼

Well... I never ever believed I would be saying this.... but Go Ga...to... no. Can't do it.

Here's hoping a giant meteor hits Gainesville.

When I was in fifth grade a black dude stole my Miami Dolphins toboggan. My best friend that year was also a black dude.... well the guy wouldn’t give it back and even started threatening me and what not out on the playground over it.... we ended up getting in a fight and it was one of those where you get so mad you lose your f’ing mind... during the heat of the fight I dropped the N word on him ... he got the best of me but I think he thought he could just punk me and I’d cave. After it was all over he gave me my hat back and we were friends up through graduation. My point is I was so freaking angry at the time that it was the nastiest thing I could think to call him.... not because I thought I was better than him.... just because I was in a rage. The school I went to never really had any racial issues at all. We all grew up together and played little league and etc. together and never really thought much about race.

All good. Dad was a BT. He was in for 21 years before they medically retired him.

Looking back I bet you wish he had just kept it.

Just you didn’t know we had our best win of the year....that happened on Tuesday....until this morning. I find that odd for someone who claims to be a vols hoops fan

That's not what I did at all. Can you stick to what's being said ITT? I am not sure I would label her a racist but she certainly isn't convincing us otherwise.
