Women Play-By-Play Football Announcers...

I haven't heard her, but I have trouble believing I'd find her more annoying than Verne or The Daves. There are plenty of bad announcers out there, I say give her a chance. If people don't like her work, they'll be sure to let ESPN know.

That being said, I don't think she should be working "big name" games until she earns the job.

She's better than Verne in that she actually knows where she is while calling games. I would take the Daves over her any day of the week.

Slap on a bunch of make up, frizz their hair up and make them put on a leopard dotted blouse and I'm in.

First of all, I get that almost all of these responses are jokes. :p

But if they're good, let them do it. You can't tell someone what career to choose, as long as they are competent. This is the 21st century and we live in the USA, right?

I think the problem is that some aren't all that competent. I would rather watch paint dry than listen to Pam Ward attempt to call football games.

I agree (if they're good, let them do it) but that (This is the 21st century and we live in the USA, right?) has nothing to do with it. If they are competent and don't have an annoying voice/personality fine.

Imagine Rosanne Barr's grating voice. it would drive me nuts but say Oprah that would work. Announcing is about having the right voice, competence and motivation. Imagine Morgan Freeman or the guy from Dirty Jobs doing play by play that would be awesome.
Now imagine Steven Tyler or Cee Lo Green and you are pulling your hair out.

Like looks in modeling, the voice in announcing is the most important aspect of the job.

well i always thought the reason we had women sideline commentators was they were hot. Who honestly listens to what they have to say? if they are commentating games and we dont ever look at them whats the point?

I vote no.

I can't stand to watch a game with a female play by play in the booth. They just don't belong their or the sidelines.

Yes I know I'm sexist, my wife will vouch for that...

I like Mowins. She knows her stuff and knows when to shut up. I'm so tired of announcers that talk and talk and talk the entire game.

Hate it--feels like I'm being *****ed at for 3 hours.

It doesn't even feel that good......call me whatever you want.....I don't care......if they know it or not....short burst from the sidelines is ok......keep them out of the booth.....This is annoying and she speaks 10 words for every one of his......and comments on everything....over coverage is what I am hearing at the present.....

Drama......

Hate it......love women though....just hate the commentary.......

I don't know why, but there is something about football.

Like, if it's a basketball game, I'm cool with a woman doing play by play or even analysis.

But with football, I just don't like it.

Same here. I would rather watch the Braves blow big leads.
