It is simply not possible to explain what he was doing otherwise.

Even looking for a flagrant foul to the head on Mashack when Mashack was the one who was fouled and his hands were down.

I was surprised at how well the first half was called. Then the second half happened. Chaz's last 2 fouls alone were egregious. And Milicic got pushed with 2 hands on that rebound they got from the last missed FT.

Yeah, I def want to take this opportunity to say that  this game was an example of legitimate bad officiating. People whine every single game regardless, but this is the one people need to be complaining about

Worst officiated game in 72 years That I've seen. About the 2 min mark the announcers said that Illinois had only 3 fouls called on the the whole 2nd half. their coach spent more time crying to the Refs than he spent talking to his team.

Announcers may have said that but there wasn't even a common foul called on Boswell. They had called the foul on Mashack from the start.

Bad officiating is one thing. It happens a lot.

But I don’t know that I recall one that was this one sided. The bad calls and non calls all favored Illinois.

Neither ZZ nor Lanier legitimately fouled out.

That one was really bad. Like, it legitimately wasn't even close to a blocking foul to begin with. To me the craziest thing was the amount of fouls called vs clear uncalled fouls

Same here, I don't usually blame officials, but those refs clearly let the crowd affect them. I don't know how Barnes kept his composure. Worst called game I've seen in a long time.

Not that I wanted more whistles but there were a ton of push offs and arm bars that were never called. Even when Z fouled out, yes he was backwards but the replay showed the guy pushing him the whole time.

I was afraid they were going to succumb to the home crowd and keep calling it tight against us in the 2nd half...the play was the same in the 2nd half but we somehow had 3:1 or even 4:1 called against us. The refs were guessing and it showed...3 phantom calls at least against Lanie and ZZ plus the egregious blocking call against Mashack.

They allowed the crowd to influence them. Phantom fouls, bad calls, and the whistle on the Gainey's dunk because the allowed the crowd to convince them there was a shot clock issue with no reset.

I almost never blame the refs for a loss, but had we lost this one it would have been 100% stolen by the officials. This game should be reviewed and those officials should be held accountable.

I'm hesitant to say the 1st half was called well, but it was at least called evenly. I thought it was over-officiated, IMO. But then the 2nd half...it was like 3 different officials came out for the 2nd half. Heavily one-sided.
