Well my prediction went to the bucket. My record as a prognosticator is getting pretty awful.

Something about this shortened game has made game 5 extremely intense. If you are not watching you are missing some great baseball.

Okay, so I didn't watch any of the series during the weekend, so I don't exactly know what the status of the rotations are, but answer me this: you're Joe Maddon, and you're playing what amounts to a three-inning elimination game. Why in God's name do you start out with your regular sixth-inning guy? Where's Kazmir or Shields? Why didn't you go to Price as soon as the pitcher's spot was out of the way?

I can't believe they played it so straight-up.

That confused me too. The postponement of the game also means that Hamels can pitch game 7 if needed. That is huge.

I might have just sent Price out there with the plan of sucking it up and letting him hit once. Or brought in Kazmir, let him go one inning, pinch it for him, and then brought Price in. Something. Instead, Maddon managed it like it was the sixth inning in an ordinary game in June.

I think MLB may be onto something here. Cut down the games to 4 innings.

I'm sure most will disagree, but I feel bad for Selig. He consistently winds up in lose-lose situations. I don't think I would have handled this situation any differently.

It makes me happy when anything in the state of Florida loses. Yes, I am that petty.

You might be right GA. Overnight Nielson ratings put the game itself right a 14. That's an incredible number. Especially compared to the other 4 games and rest of the postseason. I wonder if those numbers would have stayed high for games 6 and 7 had Tampa won?
