As a Civil Engineer (in training lol) It has more to do with the design of the staduim. Than the number of people. It's all about holding in the noise.

Two of the best examples are Autzen Stadium where Oregons plays averages 59,000 people, and CenturyLinkField where the seahawks play holds 67,000 people. But both are consider to be two of the loudest in the country. Both are newer stadiums, or have had recent modifications.

Acoustics . :)

Seattle's stadium has part of it hanging over the stands and back toward the field...I would say that plays a major part in holding in the noise, and bouncing the other sides noise back toward the field...then you have Michigan, which is angled back and out,and several people have said ,for 110,000,it was not very loud...

If you figure out how to drop my age by 20-30 years, I'm in. I've lost my voice more times than some on here have had birthdays. Try again.

I have a nodule on a voval cord from losing my voice from yelling at the first MIZZOU game. I could have it removed but it gives my voice that gravely old bastard aura :)

I can believe KC got that high. I'm a chiefs fan and when I have went to games it has been very very loud... a lot of it has to do with how the stadium is built .

Did you really just say the CT word?.. For you to even know he said this lessens my opinion of you...just saying, guy is garbage.

I don't like him either. Was actually making fun of him calling vol fans the 10th dumbest fan base.

At the Utah St game they did monitor crowd noise. They had both a digital graphic and also a handheld monitor on the side lines as well. I can't remember the exact peak but it was in the first half. It was something like 104 or 105. We will never get close to ArrowHead or the 12th man Stadium as they are designed to resonate sound and redirect it to the field.

Arrowhead is considered to more of a "College" atmosphere when it comes to noise and they also holds 80k. Seattle has the half roof/covering on their stadium which shouldn't count for an outdoor stadium(I am a chiefs fan lol).

I do believe that Neyland could get pretty high if the whole crowd is into it. I don't care for the record as much as making it difficult for the visitors.

From what ive heard death valley and tex a&m are tops in college because of rabid fan bases and stadium acoustics. Its hard to imagine how loud neyland would be if lil jon showed this weekend though lol

I second that. Sometimes it's Wed or Thurs before I get my voice back & the 81 in my name is the year I graduated, so us "old folks" can yell too....and do!
