Worley more than ever this weekend

Anyone think Worley will be playing in a clean pocket?

Honestly, if the offense is not making things happen and the defense starts being worn down and OU is up a couple of scores in the 3rd quarter, I'll be upset if Worley doesnt try to make things happen.

Don t fool yourself into thinking if UT can keep things from falling apart they can keep it close til the 4th quarter and maybe make something happen. If the offense doesnt take chances and try to WIN the game even early in the 2nd half, UT is going to get so far behind it's not going to be close.

Well there are smart risks and not so smart risks. I agree that Worley is going to have to squeeze some passes into some tight windows, and if North is in tight man coverage 30 or 40 yards down the field, he may have to take a chance and let North take a stab at going up and grabbing it. At the same time, I agree with the OP that he shouldn't take dumb risks like simply throwing the ball up for grabs when he is under duress. It would be better to to take a sack than to throw a pick six.

When I said early in the game, I meant from kickoff until 2 or 3 possessions elapse. Just enough to allow all the intangibles (crowd noise and energy, butterflies, total emotional fever) abate a bit. This is a young team and they need to feel the ground beneath their feet without some catastrophic adversity putting them in an immediate deficit. I am not saying to refrain from running our offense. I am saying that Stoops is placing high hopes on pouncing quickly and more than likely with all varieties of blitzes on those early downs. Here is where Worley must be a field general and keep our players composed and focused. I want our Defense to set the tone early, not theirs. Stoops wants to win this game by scoring an early knockout using an early blitzkrieg on our young OLine. If we survive those first 5 to 7 minutes, we have as good a chance of winning this game as the Sooners do.

In fact, if we lead or remain tied after the first 7 minutes pass in this game, we will win this game and have 2 weeks off to jubilate over it before our conference opener with Ga. You can count on it.

I'll tell you this. We need to clean up the fumblitis. We have laid the ball on the ground several times in the past two weeks. Thankfully, we've fallen right on it etc almost every time. But nonetheless, it's coming out. Surely the staff is working on ball security.

To me a fumble not lost is equal in concern to one lost in previous weeks. The refs on field call + fuzzy video saved us on the Wolf fumble v USU. We need to hang on to that thing or we won't give our self a chance to beat them.

Got a feeling we are going to see Butch unleash some new things on O this week. Here's hoping that mistakes don't sabotage anything for a young teams 1st road trip.
