Worley's Thumb and...?

Worley played well.

Ferguson is the clear #2. When Worley was having his hand looked at, Ferg was warming up on the sideline. That tells you all you need to know.

However, Worley has proven he plays well with his back against a wall. He won that game (with help, obviously) through grit. He is our starter unless he is physically unable to be.

I was surprised by his toughness. I really thought he would wither when he gets hit, but he really hung in there and showed surprising speed and wiggle when he ran. Worley is no blazer, but he is not a stiff like Bray. He still needs to work on a faster delivery and accuracy, but he is improving. I believe he has a strong enough arm, but needs work on his foot work.

Ferguson is the number two now but IDK that CBJ burns his redshirt if Peterman gets back healthy.

I agree, though I still don't completely see the point of having two redshirted freshman QBs. Particularly when it's obvious both view themselves as starters. I can't see either just hanging around 5 years in backup roles.

Good post. Appreciate you using legitimate, constructive criticism of Worley rather than writing, like most on here, that he just sucks and can't hit the broad side of a barn.... even after making some very good throws on Saturday.

They warmed them both up while he was getting worked on but Ferg warmed up longer. I would say he's the #2 guy.

Glad Worley stuck it out. He's really playing a lot better, but he threw a couple of risky passes and he needs to run on that read option occasionally. He had at least 4 chances that I counted that he would have been gone for 15-20 ( or 7 -10 at his speed)

I wonder why the coaches haven't worked with Worley throwing off his back foot. 2nd half of GA game he seemed confident in the pocket. He would step up and make great throws. Then against SC he seemed nervous once again.

Yea, he did until the thumb, then he started stepping up in the pocket again.

Once i thought for sure Clowney was gonna round the corner and kill him and he stepped up like a pro and made a great (albeit risky) throw to North.

If Worley goes down and CBJ burns a redshirt, Worley Could lose his job so he needs to be tough.

Total agreement. What they don't realize they are saying when they go off on Worley is that Butch and staff don't know how to pick a successful starting QB. Usually these same posters are big Butch backers, which makes it all the more stupid.

They also need to work with him on not staring down your intended target. It looked to me like he often defaulted to what should have been his last look. Several times he had guys wide open...4-6 steps in front of their man, and he never saw them. He was staring at the receiver on the flat.

Worley has improved each game, and he looks much more confident. Hopefully he learns more after watching this week's footage.
