CBJ is dealing with a situation that is going to take time to fix.

He's 100% correct, this is a process... a 2 to 3 year process. Talent and depth is woefully below SEC standards and it will take 2 top recruiting classes in 2014, 2015 to begin to address this.

CBJ has a plan and I'm with him 100%. My expectations are that Team 119 will show us his plan is working and Team 120 will convince us.

We need to publicly, via this site and any social media we interact with, support CBJ and the team. We need to help sell this program's potential so we can bring in the players that will get us where we all want to be. Recruits are impressionable and pay attention to social media, let's not give them any reason to not to come to Tennessee!

Likely longer than 2 or 3 years

I agree. Based on what I've seen the last couple of weeks against top competition, I think we're 4-5 years away. Need playmakers and quality depth. Coach needs really good classes the next 3 years and then maybe we'll be there in 2016 (earliest) more likely 2017.

I don't care who he brings in. That offense he runs isn't going to win more than 6-7 games at it's best

I've said several times it's gonna be 5 years. Recruiting specific players and specific talent for his system. A full recruiting cycle of increasingly better talent that yields more talented junior and senior starters who have been in the same system their entire collegiate career with quality depth behind them.

As far as I am concerned, I am not looking for UT to get to a bowl game until the 2015 season. But from that season on, I expect to see improvement by leaps rather than by steps (or bricks).

Jones will be here for the entirety of his 6 year contract. Hopefully he will have improved the program enough that we are worried about keeping him and this staff here when that contract is up...

There's not an offense on planet Earth that wins this group more than 7 games. It's like people have been hit in the head and forgotten the past 5 years.

I've got a different view altogether. We've just seen the best defense we'll see all year. The week before, we saw the best offense we'll see all year. The game should slow down on both sides of the ball from here and show improvement.

I agree with OP.

Talent-wise, we're just not there. It could even be a little worse next year, unfortunately. But I'm really impressed with how our guys (especially on the D) played vs Florida. We might not be winning, but that team on the field looked world's better than the teams that Dooley fielded. If we had a defensive effort like that last year, we would've been 8-4 rather than 5-7.

Year 3 and Year 4 are going to be key years. If Butch is able to continue recruiting some top talent, we should be more competitive by then.

I don't see it taking 5 years to get this program back to having respectable seasons. Do we have the talent that others have? No. That said, this can be drastically improved by just a couple of recruiting classes.

I am not saying that in a couple of years we will be world beaters like we were in the 90's, but we should be back to a level where 9 wins should be expected. We are probably 3 - 4 years away from really competing for a championship.

Right now I am going to be patient. I want to see a change in the team attitude (which I believe we are already seeing evidence of), followed by a refuse to lose mind set. This team isn't giving up like the teams of the past. I believe that is the first step in building a top tier team.

Everyone who is getting impatient, bad-mouthing the coaching, talking negative about the program need to stop and think about it for a bit. CBJ has said this program needs to be built brick by brick. Some people on here evidently think you start building from the top down, finishing with the foundation. Just a little simple observation would go a long way toward realizing that the foundation of the program has been eroded badly over the past several years. It isn't like other schools where a new coach can turn it around season one.

Let's sit back and enjoy the process. I hate seeing the Vols lose more than just about anything in the world, but I also really thing CBJ has this team headed in the right direction.

Key word is "should" but I'm in agreement. These players are finally getting some good coaching and progress as the season moves along. Come November, I think Tennessee can get to 6 wins and get to a bowl game.

5 years is a long time. If it take 5 years he might be gone. I would expect 7-9 wins next season and year 3 closing in on 9-10 wins. Squeeking by with 6 wins a year and saying he needs more time isnt going to cut it. Dooley got 3 years with declining each year and he was gone. Why should a better coach get 5?

You won't get close to 7 or 9 wins next season

Whole new Oline, new d line, new Lbs , same, secondary, and same QBs. Still going to be slow on D except for a few here and there.

Only positive is they should know the offense better
