I'm not attempting to pout or be negative, but seriously, does anybody know just how this NFL draft class ranks among UT classes all time?

It seems to be one more indictment of how horrible Derek Dooley was as a coach.

I don't think an Oklahoma player went until the 3rd of 4th round. Does that mean Stoops sucks as well?

This offensive line was never as talented as so many trumpeted them to be.

Butch was happy to see this bunch go, is my guess.

Right. Tiny Richardson was supposed to be the greatest and he went undrafted.

Yep.

I never thought they were that talented and I am not sure their skill set really fit what this offense needs. I don't expect a major drop off next year.

THIS^^^

Has anyone noticed our (lack of) football accomplishments over the last 10+ years? Kinda doesn't make you a "NFL Breeding Magnet".

No, this is not the worst class!

Think of the class with Robert Ayers. He was drafted in the 1st round and then there was a huge drop off before the next player was drafted.

Think of the class with Dallas Thomas. He was the top draft selection that year and he wasn't even close to being in the 1st round.

Next year, we will not have many players drafted in the NFL but a few years from now it will be different.

Generally speaking, mediocre teams don't get a whole bunch of players drafted. The only problem is that the pros don't look at our team and players through orange colored glasses. If they did, they would draft a bunch of our guys.

Everybody thought they were good because Tyler could release the ball in about a micro second.

Great topic for a thread OP. (Not being sarcastic). With the record that we've had for the past couple years I didn't expect much to be drafted. We have gone through the worst stretch of our program in the modern age over the past few years; not promising on draft day to say the least.

Butch has the fire and work ethic to change that. However, I hope that our plays believe in what he's doing, and trying to do.

It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the fight in the dog that matters. Many great players have proven this. I, personally, expect us to be respectable after 3 more years. It's gonna take that long just to the talent, depth, and culture built back up to what it was when we complained about only winning 10 games a season.

Be patient, draft day will once again be in our favor, and in turn, help our recruiting efforts as it once did.

I wouldn't stay he was supposed to be the greatest. However, he earned major respect the way he handled Clowney, except on the last play in '12, and that he never got in trouble and always came to work.

We, as fans, can't be upset at him for that. He represented us very well, and probably will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.

He's a VFL, despite what NFL scouts thought about him.

We'll have a few go next year. Lane, AJ, Maggit, to name a few. Maybe Worley will give it a shot if he has a good season this year.

I honestly see this draft as a good sign. Everyone expects us to be bad this year because of the new oline and dline, but this obviously tells us that last years weren't very good anyways. Things will only get better from here.

Yep, that was part of it. There claim to fame was their "great" pass blocking. It was an overrated attribute. And they never did anything in run blocking that was thought of as great.

Yeah, we only had 3 drafted. But so far 7 of our guys that went undrafted have signed.

Im happy that we at least had a 1st round pick and 10 of our guys have signed.

Don't really see Marlin Lane getting drafted....

To me Tennessee's thin draft explains another losing record...The times I've been frustrated watching a draft were when we had one player after another being taken in the first three rounds such as 2000 (Jamal Lewis, Shaun Ellis, Chad Clifton, Deon Grant, Cosey Coleman, Dwayne Goodrich, Darwin Walker) and had losses to Florida and Arkansas to think about.
