Worst Draft Class Ever (serious question)?

By the way.... great move by Tiny Richardson's "advisors". We could have had him back this year and the dude didnt even get drafted.

Sucks to be him and sucks to be us. Bad all around situation.

I'm not attempting to pout or be negative, but seriously, does anybody know just how this NFL draft class ranks among UT classes all time?

It seems to be one more indictment of how horrible Derek Dooley was as a coach.

At the risk of being flamed (again)... Richardson was coming off a season where he dominated the guy taken #1 this year. He was considered a first round pick coming into last season. What changed? If his drop from the draft was an issue of coaching... how exactly is it Dooley's coaching? The guy was sitting pretty good before the '13 season.

He never got over his knee injury fully from 2012.

This is why he went un drafted and you saw guys like Kuoandjio and Nix drop.

NFL teams take the injuries very seriously.

You seriously need to let it go on Dooley though.

The guy sucked as a head coach on every single facet.

End of story.

This is the only thing that makes sense out of the situation. I had wondered why we used our ends to help Richardson block Clowney a good amount this year when Tiny handled him on all but one play last year. The only reason Jones would do that (IMO) is because Tiny wasn't 100%. Otherwise, why waste what would otherwise be an extra blocker to help someone who can handle his assignment?

Yep.

I never thought they were that talented and I am not sure their skill set really fit what this offense needs. I don't expect a major drop off next year.

This offensive line was great at pass protection, below average at run blocking.

Well.....if Justin Hunter, C.P., and Tyler Bray had stayed....and Bray had a great senior year and been selected...it would have been. But those guys bounced as juniors unlike James.

The common thought is that an NFL doctor noticed an issue with his knee's and advised all 32 teams to NOT draft him.

So, had he returned, the medical issue would still be there but it would have been discovered this year, rather than last year.

"Tiny" was attempting to get a contract so his mother could retire and not work at a nursing home any longer.

The best case scenerio is that he passes the physical and makes a team. Then he can show his talents and eventually get a pay check like A. Foster did.

No, this is not the worst class!

Think of the class with Robert Ayers. He was drafted in the 1st round and then there was a huge drop off before the next player was drafted.

Think of the class with Dallas Thomas. He was the top draft selection that year and he wasn't even close to being in the 1st round.

Next year, we will not have many players drafted in the NFL but a few years from now it will be different.

No. It apparently isn't. Every time something goes wrong, there are certain to be posters here to blame it on Dooley so that they can get "likes" and avoid any suggestion of any possibility whatsoever that the current staff could be responsible in any small way for ANYTHING.

It is the Volnation equivalent of "Knibb High football rules".... and pretty much deserves the same response that Billy Madison got. But invariably, there will be raucous cheers or approval.

Weak argument. He has micro fractures in his knee. Nobody wants to invest alot in a huge guy with chronic knee issues at age 21. To put it off on his "coaching" makes no sense. Dooley was a god awful coach. One of the worst in SEC History.

If he's injured that's one thing. The knee jerk reaction of some here to "blame Dooley" for everything is another.

I have no doubt that he probably has the knee problems... Just pretty tired of seeing Dooley resurrected every time a scape goat is needed.

FWIW, except for Tiny, most of this draft was the class that Kiffin started. It will get leaner for a couple of years as we actually see what's left of Dooley's recruits finish up.

I know this is old news, but that Kiffen class and a half weren't exactly the world-beaters we were led to believe at the time.
