Worst loss in ut history?

Austin Peay had played 42 games against SEC teams before today...... and had won a total of ONE game out of 42. That was against our little brother to the west Vandy. After today, AP is 2-41 against the SEC!!

Yes, this has to rank as one of the worst losses if you are talking about upsets only.

(and you people that keep saying CBP lost to a D-II team, please stop. Exhibition games DO NOT count)

This is probably not the worst loss, but with the state of UT athletics these days it is certainly depressing and leaves the fans feeling even more hopeless.

Is this the worst loss in UT history?

Austin Peay 74
VOLS 70

Is this the worst loss in the last 12 months?

Charlotte opened 2010 4-6 with their worst losses coming to a mid-tier CUSA team and the 2nd worst team in the Big South. Then they kicked their best post (and leading scorer) off the team. Then they beat a Tennessee team ranked in the top ten in the country.

Peay opened 2011 1-9 with their worst losses coming to a mid-tier Horizon team and a mid-tier MAC team. Then they got their best post back from injury. Then they beat a Tennessee team picked 11th in the SEC.

You saw this coming. Go back and read your own post. Rebounding? boxing out? turnovers? defense? lack of hustle? These players don't know what needs to be done and there is not anybody to tell them.
Read the players' posts after the games.
They know what they're doing wrong.
They've been taught, just aren't putting on the game floor.

The only worse loss I remember was Georgia State in the early 80's. It was probably the beginning of DeVoes decline.

Not even close. Michigan last year might be the worst for me, honestly. I live in Michigan and I STILL catch crap for that one. I threw the remote down during the game and fell asleep. I couldn't take it anymore.

So stupid. I suppose Nick Saban shouldve been on the hot seat for losing to UL-Monroe his first season?

This argument makes no sense. You are calling someone stupid but you are comparing a proven football coach that had already won a NC at LSU to a basketball coach that who has only made it to the 2nd round of the NIT. I understand that you like Martin over Pearl, but stop with the ignorant statements.

This is close,...but we have done this for 3-4 years. 70% of Ut B-ball losses in the last 3 years are to teams we should have beaten.I thought after the 1st 2 games we had it fixed but it can't be the coaches that do this, because we did it with pearl too.

True, but we also usually had a win against a OOC team that should have ran us out of the arena, and had a winning record at the time...totally different scenario.

With exception of Golden's kamikaze act driving the ball, I think we have offensively been pretty good, but the scary thing is we stink on defense and that is Martin's montra.

So we are comparing basketball to football? How about a equal comparison. Let's compare Martin's first year to Pearl's. Ohh wait i guess that doesn't fit your argument well.
