Ironically, Gore wasn't terribly bad when he was repping for Tenn. He went 180 on alot of his platforms when he hooked up with the Clintons and alienated his home state. He hasn't been chirping out of his beak since.

I don't think the Clinton's had anything to do with his 180. They are much more mainstream than the "new" Gore. There was a time, back in the early to mid '80s, that Gore was considered a conservative Democrat and many of the FDR holdovers were pushing him towards a run at the White House. I think you are right in that when he became associated with the Clintons, his exposure to some of the far left extremists had a definite influence on his new direction to the far left.

The Clintons are only centrist at election time. Bill ended up being a centrist pres because the congress was wiped out from under him early into his presidency

Does anyone think Gore would have been a worse president then Bush?

And if Gore would have only carried his home state of Tennessee he would have been elected. Makes you think how things might have been different....

A Gore Presidency would have had a tough row to hoe with a Republican majority in both houses of Congress.

OwlGore still wouldn't carry Tennessee, his "home state" which has voted for the winning candidate in every election since 1912.

Lost in all the hogwash over the 2000 Florida results is the stark truth that if the Goreacle had bothered to carry Tennessee, Florida would have been irrelevant.

Yes. Imagine Gore after 911. He is not exactly what you would call a "strong leader". And the dems need to quit blaming Bush for Iraq. They and everyone in America supported the invasion in the first place.

We'll never know if he would have been better but I don't think (based on my views) he could be. There are very few things I agree with him on. He mimics the Repub cries of "TERROR, TERROR, TERROR" with his own "WARMING, WARMING, WARMING". I fail to see the difference sometimes.

I've mentioned the TN thing a couple of times to friends that complain about 2000. How many stops did he even make in TN? I can't remember the exact number but think it was amazingly low.

Yes, initially, but W has changed the rationale for being over there at least, what, 20 times, after no WMDs were found.

Good point.

Gore can no longer validate the presence of mental sanity any better than Bush. That and his passion has apparently become twinkies. His appearance on the great Daily Show was rather large. It actually did not look like him. He's nothing more than a talk circuit freak show now.
