Cam Akers just committed to FSU. That would have been a big grab for us.

Oh well let's go beat Nebraska!

Vol til I fall!

We should have offered him a car. Oh wait that's Bama. We should have offered him Cash. Oh wait that's Auburn. What do we offer again? Oh yeah. Champions of Life trophies and a loss to Vanderbilt.

Running backs can't help this program, we need offensive/defensive linemen. Get the right linemen and you can utilize 2 star backs.

Would you rather be giving kids cars and cash or champions of life?

To be honest I would rather be giving them champions of life and doing it the right way.

Case in point "the great one" Chubb down at UGA per many of his admirers here on VN, was able to complete the season in 2016 and had a grand total of 7 regular season touchdowns. Which was the exact same amount he had in an injury shortened 2015 season. Moral to the story, you can be a "great" 5 star RB or a flat axx sorry no star RB, you are not going to perform any better than the OL in front of you. Chubb loses 3 seniors off his lackluster 2016 OL, good luck staying on the field next year Nic, you're going to need it.

What little ive seen of his highlights look pretty good. Im just glad he left the sec if not coming to tennessee. Seems like a good kid, I wish him well.
But I feel pretty good about RB in the future. I really like Kelly and CFA should be okay as well. Our oline looks pretty good for a while. If we can figure out QB (Dobbs will be missed) our O should be okay. Defense on the other hand....

Rumor is we couldn't even offer the champions of life, because its not guaranteed next season

Butch put himself on the hot seat & mismanaged a 5* RB who left the team. This was a casualty of that. Has a lot to prove next year.

Every thing I've ever heard about Nic Chubb are great things. Seems to be a real class act. I hope he gets back to full strength from that injury and has a great NFL career. Hate to see stuff like that happen to such a gifted athlete and great kid.

You're right though...No line, it doesn't matter how great you are. Unless you are Jerome Bettis or Mike Alstott. Then no-one can tackle you regardless.

We have lost some players in the recruiting wars in the past and it usually works itself out.
I remember when we lost a running back from Miami named Cedric Irvin. He attended Michigan State. He turned out to never cracked the line up. Glad he didn't come to U.T.
Cecil Cherry comes to mind also. Glad he ended up at Texas.
Also, the SImms who played at Texas rather than for us. He didn't do so well. Glad he decided to go to Texas.
We have two very capable running backs in Kelly & Chandler, so we will be fine.
I would be willing to bet that the chatter of bUTch should be fired or bUTch is on the hot seat was used against us in recruiting.

Oh reeeeaaally? Would you be so kind as to share a link or a quote from someone besides yourself confirming this?

Otherwise, I'll just assume you bent over and dug right past your crusty undies in order to pull this straight out of...

Case and point Bama recruiting the best Oline. Granted they also recruit 5 star backs but you are right a stout line can make any back effective.

He may have made a bad decision too if he doesn't get much playing time at FSU.

On the Hill the door was wide open for him to learn fast and get on the field fast.

This is 1 situation where Tennessee just may have been the best option and he walked right past it.

It's actually hard to recruit against the Florida schools where they can say "come on down where the babes in the bikins are".

Also he may have wanted the ACC where it will be much easier running for him.

Playing in the SEC is definately playing against future NFL players most every week so SEC players prove more to the NFL teams.

Maybe he's just scared of SEC talent.

His loss and I won't miss him.

VFL...GBO!!!

FSU owns UF. They compete for National Championships, and their program has no reason to fear anyone. Get real.

The Vols missed a game changer once again and they can't afford to continue down this road if they want to be competitive, especially in the SEC.......
