I've seen and heard opinions on both sides about whether Cam Newton might lose votes for his Heisman bid after all the eligibility issues that have been raised over the past few weeks..IMO it should not affect a Heisman voters choice but I have heard quite a few say it will..Just wondering what VN thought about it...

Here's an interesting read from David Climer about his vote:Auburn's Cam Newton gets my vote for Heisman Trophy | tennessean.com | The Tennessean

Just curious tim and TVOLS, why not??

Can't speak for the others. I simply don't like the kid. He is not someone I would be able to vote for and feel good about it. I know the argument is that voters are voting for the best player, but I enjoy rooting for good players who are also good people. Conversely if he does not have any redeeming qualities I do not enjoy watching/rooting for them. JMO

Hard to argue the point that he is the best in the country right now. That being said, I could not vote for him,to much speculation and the Heisman is supposed to go to the best player for a body of work. Besides, the Heisman has been tainted since Manning got screwed. If a defensive player should ever have won it SUH should have last year. Who did they give it to? A guy who is not even the best back on his team. Just my opinion.

I haven't cared about or given any thought to this since 1997.....

I don't think Cam qualifies.

Look at the mission statement of the Heisman award.

Think the first sentence pretty much rules him out.

Yes. Any possible action against him in the future should not disqualify him now.

The fact that Newton is still on the Auburn roster is an insult to every college athlete in the country who did things the right way; who didn't cheat or take money to play. Heisman? Who cares? The whole case has cast a shadow over everything in college football.

The Hypesman lost all credibility in 1997. That said, Cam was the most outstanding player this season.

Yes. No doubt he would get my vote. This kid makes Tebow look like a 5 on a scale of 1 to 10.

For those who would not vote for Cam would you vote to give the second best but "clean" player an award for the best player in CF or simply abstain.
