Yes his big shot did help us beat Kansas, but other than that he really didn't do to much for us except throw up bricks and foul people. Don't get me wrong I like Skylar but I would much rather see us offer a 3*,4*, or a5* player the scholarship.

i dont think he deserves a scholarship. hes here to shoot threes and make them. right now he has too much trouble getting a shot off. if he ever gets to the point where he can get them off clean and sink them consistantly, i say give him a scholarship.

I agree maybe later down the road when and if he can start hitting his threes then yes, I wouldn't it at all.

I say keep him as a walk on unless you have an extra. What's his parents financial situation? He's the one who turned down $ elsewhere.

Technically - though - pretty sure only reason he came here is because Bruce said he would get a scholarship 1-2 years down the road - otherwise he would have probably gone elsewhere. But, his play certainly doesn't deserve one.

Remember he is a freshman. Don't know if he 'deserves' a scholly or not at this point but I think with a summer in the weightroom and more time in the gym this kid is going to be a key piece of the puzzle in the future.

I think the better question should be "would you be mad if Bruce gave a scholarship to STEVEN PEARL?"

I've never been a big fan of Steven just because he LOOKS like he doesn't belong but with his defensive effort I would say that he deserves one over McBrick. What ever you do Bruce, just don't give one to both of them.

If Bruce decides to do it, then it's alright by me. He has earned the right to make that decision without us questioning him.

He goes to school for free anyways cause of his dad.

One shot in early January doesn't get you a scholarship. I say no. Maybe after next season if he can start shooting better.

It would be absolutely ignorant to give him a scholarship.

Would Steven Pearl deserve a scholarship if his dad weren't the coach? Absolutely. That being said, his dad is the freaking coach, I think Bruce doesn't mind covering that tuition bill for the sake of an open scholly...

I find no issue with giving a three-point specialist ( that shot barely over 30%) a scholarship. His ability to lock down more athletic players is also a huge plus.

In jan. i would have said no, giv him a scholy, but after the hype went down on skyler and we got to see him play more, its obvious that he cant play defense. i love the kid as a person but defense wins championships.

Bruce will do what is best....I trust that it is his decision to make and I would support him.

Agree...

McBee got a reputation after that Kansas 3 pointer and he is easily locked down when he is on the court. Also a defensive liability.

He's also a freshman so I expect his game to improve quite a bit in the next two seasons.

I say he will show improvement from now to next year..He knows he needs to improve and what it will take...So I think he will try to earn the scholly and be worthy of it next year

To answer the question yes I'd be mad. Skylar played like a walk-on this year therefore I don't believe he deserves a scholarship. I'd much rather see an incoming 4 or 5 star recruit get that. That being said Bruce Pearl is a great coach and knows what he's doing so I'll trust his judgement.

He will never be good enough on defense to make a significant contribution, and will be good for, maybe 6-8ppg with his inability to create his own shot.

Not sure mad is the right word but the scholly would be better used for a much better player.

I do not think he earned it with his play this year.

I wouldn't be mad, but I don't think it would be the right decision. If he focuses on his footwork and his ability to get open, he could turn himself into a scholarship player next season.
