Would you had rather.....

I'd rather make the tourney, period. Winning the NIT is nothing to be proud of... making the tourney is.

Despite what UK fans will try to tell you, there is no bright spot in a major college program playing in the NIT, results notwithstanding.

Is this like choosing between a date with a hottie where you get nothing or going out with a dog and making it to third base? I'll take the nothing.

I'd rather lose in the first round of the NIT than win it.

Winning the NIT only draws further attention to the fact that you're actually in the NIT.

Really, though, winning the NIT doesn't mean you're #66. It's more like mid-30s. It's not as bad as it seems.

About as entertaining as 1st round and out, big boy.

But just not quite and that tiny sliver is all the difference in the world. In fact, it entertains me greatly that yours is one of the few schools that ours can make fun of for being relegated to sloppy seconds. Congrats.

Oh? According to who, exactly?

I'll take what happened to our team this year over going to the NIT any day. Winning a tournament full of second-rate competition is certainly nothing to boast about.

Apathy has set in.

Not really. But tell me what's better....the Vols are chillin' at the dorms while the young Cats are still out there trying to do something that puts a positive on a terrible season. Every game that they win is a confidence-builder for next year. UK won the NIT in 1976 and followed up the next year with an Elite 8 and won it all in 78. It really is a nice springboard into next season. Would I prefer the NCAA? Sure. But this team has no business playing there. Better to get some momentum for next season.

Let's flip it a bit. Option A: Beat UK twice and win the NIT. Option B: Lose to UK twice and lose in the first round of the NCAA.

I am thinking really hard about preferring Option A because I want to beat UK almost more than anything.

Well, with the hottie at least you build some cool points. Other then that I agree with you.
