Would you had rather.....

We got to experience the Madness of March. It only lasted one day, but we were involved. KY is only playing on the undercard. The Madness resumes on Thursday. The NIT is just a consolation event.

And, I would put the NIT winner in the 40s. You have to rank them behind every NCAA at-large team and a lot of the automatic bids, but not all of them.

Not really. But tell me what's better....the Vols are chillin' at the dorms while the young Cats are still out there trying to do something that puts a positive on a terrible season. Every game that they win is a confidence-builder for next year. UK won the NIT in 1976 and followed up the next year with an Elite 8 and won it all in 78. It really is a nice springboard into next season. Would I prefer the NCAA? Sure. But this team has no business playing there. Better to get some momentum for next season.

NCAA > NIT

There is no positive put on a terrible season by playing among the also-rans.

I don't know. It depends on your perspective, I suppose. From the blue side of the fence, the positives outweigh the negatives.

FWIW, most of you were howling a week ago that UT didn't deserve to be in the NCAA tourney.

Winning in the NIT just prolongs a below-average season.

Advancing in the NIT is like taking an ugly chick out on a date...and, at the end of the night, asking her out again. It was bad enough having to be seen in public with her the first time, now you have to do it again? Sucks for you.

Not really, no. I can't even tell you who won the NIT last year, and that's because I don't care. I suppose some people follow the NIT because they like watching basketball in general, but for most it's completely invisible next to the NCAA tournament. Why? One competition is stacked with good teams, while the other is chock full of wannabes. Being the skinniest girl at fat camp shouldn't make you happy.

FWIW, most of you were howling a week ago that UT didn't deserve to be in the NCAA tourney.

It's not worth a lot, because our team still made the tournament (and, for that matter, was a whisker away from making the second round).

The positive of winning the NIT over losing in the first round on NCAA is, if you have a young team you get loads more practice time and game experience against solid competition. It's going to help their younger guys.

So you believe UK had a better year this year than last?

Kentucky fans never cease to surprise me.

You get a couple of weeks of practice and a couple of games against other teams that weren't particularly good. I'd be willing to bet that the younger guys don't develop that much after playing a 33 game season because they got a 34th and 35th game against UNLV and Creighton. This isn't football, where you extend the work you can do for a month. It's an exhibition against the other guys who were almost good enough to be decent.

If they lose in the first or second round yes, but I still think winning the NIT would help the younger guys.

You are bragging about getting rejected from a tournament that we made...
