Would you rather get the president of your choice or football coach?

In the grand scheme of things, the influence a president has on my personal livlihood and career is almost insignificant compared to ambition, a hard work ethic, and support/help from my friends and family. The decisions I make personally will ultimately be the difference between success and failure in my life. A president is only as good as his word so that probability alone creates a personal decision that I still have to make.

The headcoaches effect on the Vols impacts my demeanor, hobbies, and leisure. I have no control in the decision and I can't control the emotions that are effected due to a habitual lack of apathy. This addiction that plagues my soul was an enevitable inconvenience passed down from my father in my genes.

Football Coach!

President is a token job anyway! Congress runs the country. Plus, both McCain and Obama are idiots! One is not a conservitive (says he is) and the other is a socialist.

Vote Bob Barr!
Vote Lane Kiffen!

I will take a coach. The President has checks and balances in place, so he cannot get too carried away.

Hire Gruden in '09!

People don't seem to get that we are screwed no matter who the president is...How much power can one man surrounded by power hungry animals foaming at the mouth on all sides really have?

um...considering that i don't vote, don't support war regardless, don't believe that we are any better than the countries we invade, and that presidents are jokes, and so is democracy...

FOOTBALL!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wish more people felt like you. If people would get over themselves and quit thinking that they and their opinions are Godlike, we could actually get to the root of the multitudes of problems with America.

I use the word "interesting" simply because "completely archaic and backwards" might be offensive.

i can't begin to tell you how much of a compliment that is. thank you. in all seriousness...thank you.

If you enjoy a good read, i would recommend two books:

1. Jesus for President, by shane claiborne
2. Politics of Jesus, by John Howard Yoder

Uh oh, are we starting to mix religion in with politics? This could turn badly.

I think the Presidential electoral system would be better off if we re-adopted the old school practice of voting separately for president and vice president. Hilarity could potentially ensue, yes, and I know it backfired back when the policy was in place, but I think it would ultimately benefit the country to have the option to not be sold on one ticket and would open up the vice presidential race to more candidates that deserve to be in the running.

But hey, don't blame me, I voted for Nader.

i prefer upside-down as opposed to backward. speaking of such...another book...

The Upside-Down Kingdom, by Donald Kraybill

"If anyone of you wants to be the greatest he must become the servant of all"

"Among you it must be very different...for the first shall be last and the last shall be first"

Yes...it is a bit backward.

no...i dont mix the two. the books are exactly the opposite of that...the title is catchy though huh? ha! it isnt politics as we understand electoral politics...but politics as in "Love your enemy...do good to those who harm you." That is the political understanding...not electoral or 21st century political understanding...thhogh i can see how you would gain that from the title...but glad you brought that up. means the title is doing its job!

Feel free to point out to me where Jesus preached against participating in a Representative Republic. Also, feel free to point out any part of the Bible that is decidedly anti-war.

Sure...but a better question would be this? Where is there a vote inthe Bible? And...love your enemies...do good to those that harm you."

I will be glad to talk with you...email me on my page. too long to do here on this forum. and for your info Rome was a representative republic. But Jesus continually spoke of the Kingdom of God as opposed to other Kingdoms.

Well, for your information (to be historically accurate and correct), Rome was an Empire throughout the lifetime of Jesus.

Remember that guy, Ceasar??? Et tu Brute happened a generation and a half prior to Jesus being born...

Maybe you should read more historically accurate books.

Yea we should have sent Al-Qaeda and OBL some peace offerings after 9/11.

Or the other alternative...Bomb them! bomb villages, overtake countries, set up puppet presidents, bring in our companies and corporations, kill innocent people, set up bases all across the middle east, send in our ships, our planes, our soldiers, forget real justice, forget love, forget peace, increase our empire against the poor, oppressed, and marginalized...yes indeed Jesus' words are absolutely a horrible idea with this wonderful idea that seems so much better. And...of course adding the wonderful phrase, "God Bless America" as we do it. wow...
