Yes. He is still the same liar and cheater. Just because Jimmy Cheek was trying to keep the players and fans focused on the season (which didn't work anyways) doesn't mean he isn't a liar and a cheater.

And it goes to show our dumb some of our fanbase is (just like every fanbase). As one of my favorite music artist says "Gotta learn when you get burnt, even if it's with you." Hiring him would be dumb. You know what the NCAA would do to us if he committed a violation? They would burn our basketball program to the ground.

What makes you want to trust a liar and a cheater? Because he gave piazza's to students? Because he supported the Lady Vols? Seriously. Bruce isn't going to get a high profile job. His career is basically over. Let it go, support Coach Zo, and enjoy football season coming up.

No problem with this post other than the fact that Pearl will never coach again at the D1 level. No one will be willing to take the risk of hiring him.

I'd be willing to bet that some school will. He knows how to market, knows how to coach and most of all, knows how to make money. That's the main reason he will be hired. Because he can make them some money.

There will be some program that wants to make some money that will eventually take a chance on him. In the end, it's always about money.

We, or whatever hypothetical school that gets him, would not be getting skinny, hungry, crazy, excitable Bruce Pearl. We, or they, would be getting the older, slower, beaten up Bruce Pearl. His antics would be tired and predictable and would not have the same effect on a jaded fan base in Knoxville, or wary fan base somewhere else.

Tennessee was his big show and he blew it. He might get another job in D1, but it's absurd to think his brand of buffoonery will fly twice.

And this is all coming from someone who bought it, loved it, and vehemently defended it all the first time!

Solid post, pooch. Those are my thoughts as well. He might have some level of success at another school, but it won't be the same.

Bruce is going to be coaching somewhere three years from now. Considering how much the boosters and the vast majority of Vol fans would support such a rehire, it would be impossible not to imagine the return of Bruce Almighty. After 3 years, Cuonzo will have had enough time to prove whether he's worth retaining or not. I just hope BP doesn't wind up coaching an SEC opponent because whoever he coaches will wind up vying for, and probably winning, conference championships. Besides, it would really get under the skin of Mike Slive, John Calipari, Baldy, and Billy Donovan. Having suffered a punishment disproportional to the "crime" will serve as Bruce's baptism of fire. To his credit, he's smart to have learned from his mistake. What he's been through will make him not only wiser, but stronger than ever. All of his future opponents will like him even less than his rivals in the SEC did.

My gut feeling is that the longing for Bruce to return to Rocky Top will be inversely proportional to Cuonzo's success, i.e. the more Cuonzo wins, the less we'll miss Bruce; the less Cuonzo wins, the more we'll miss Bruce.

How many conference championships did we win under Pearl?

We had him this year and got our doors blown off by Michigan. Come on, people.

**** No. The fact that there is a substantial number of people who are voting yes really hurts my faith in the intelligence of a portion of the fanbase.

Rehiring Pearl would be like stepping in crap, cleaning it off your shoe, then deciding to go step in it again just to see if it's as disgusting the 2nd time around.

And none of that has anything to do with why he won't ever be rehired.

He made a mistake, get over it. It would not surprise me
to see him coaching a SEC team to the east of us. He can win and build teams, somebody will natch him up to coach. Wait and see.
