Regarding Calipari Kentucky Fans were first like:

He is too dirty to ever lead our program. It would be low class to hire him.

Then like:

Crap we fired Tubby and this new guys sucks. What the hell go get the guy. Never mind what we used to say about the bastard.

But ended up being mostly like:

Wait he has been barely more succesful then Tubby. Man I hope Cal didn't cheat again.

Quadruple the Final Four appearances is "barely more successful" haha

That and Coach K's 7+ is just frigging stupid !

Those coaches are probably bringing in a lot more revenue than that. Not paying the players who play a large part in generating said revenue is pretty frigging stupid though

.821 winning % for Cal at UK
.760 for Tubby

4 Final Fours for Cal
1 for Tubby

Tubby won his one championship with Pitino's players.

But yeah, Tubby was just barely worse than Cal

Cal recruits the best in the country every single year. No one can come close to his recruiting abilities. Unfortunately Tubby couldn't recruit that well and that's what separated him from Calipari. The last coach at Kentucky whom I think was the best at X's & O's, was Rick Pitino. Now if Rick was still coaching Kentucky and was able to recruit as well as Calipari, he would have surpassed Calipari's winning percentage. You'll have some UK fans admit the he's not the best X's & O's coach. That's what holding Calipari back as becoming the best coach in the NCAA.

I'll agree with all that. But pretending Tubby was just barely worse is pathetic

Yea I disagree with that as well. Tubby had a few good seasons but he was average at best when he coached Kentucky.

And yet Izzo flamed out with a seasoned team this year as a likely final four contender. He is a good coach, but he's apples, Cal is oranges.

Izzo is better. But they have different styles in recruiting, development, etc. Cal has been somewhat consistent in putting new teams together. Izzo is good at recruiting a few good players every season and keeping them around turning them into solid players. Next season he has four top 50 players coming in. He'll do well, but it'll be interesting to see how he uses them. I know a lot of MSU fans got mad when he sat Davis down this season (freshman iirc) and they lost to MTSU.

Izzo is a better coach than Cal. Not saying Cal is a bad coach at all, he's great. I don't like him all that much, but he's a good coach. Cal has won a National Title, he also won that one title with a freak once in a lifetime player.

My dad is a big UK fan since the late 50,s and he says all calipari does is promia kids they get into the NBA and he delivers more times than not.but says he would rather have almost anyone as a floor coach.all the talent in the world is not enough.he let Murray decide UK fate by not taking him out when he was just chuckling shots up .my dad is a firm believer that if a guard does not average 3plus assist a game he is shooting way to much and I agree with him completely.

Somewhat unfair to Murray. He's a pure SG who was added last minute. Ulis did 100000% of the PG work on the floor, Murray was the scorer. If you saw the growth from what he started as in Nov. to March, it was impressive. I honestly don't think he chucked too many bad ones against IU, he just got locked down. We had a pitiful offense outside Ulis/Murray, so when those two couldn't combine for 40 points, we struggled. If you want to pick on Cal for misusing his guards, then look at the 2015 Wisc game where he could have put in Ulis.
