Wow, no commits after Saturday's game??

So Butch is going to cut loose 4-6 commits after signing day?

Tony, you really don't get this whole recruiting thing.

That's not what I said. Why do you ALWAYS question or want to argue my posts? I said part could go before the NSD & part afterwards. That has happened before. You try to act like you know more about it than you do.

Go somewhere else & try to start a fuss. Not here because you totally misunderstood my post like you like to do an awful lot chris. You question way too many things that I post on here when I know what I'm doing & talking about but not as good as Ron Swanson, GFW, & a few others.

I don't claim to be the best either. You sure try to act like you know more than anybody else but you don't either although I know you too know quite a bit when it comes to recruiting. Thanks!

I expect at least a couple that might pull the trigger this week for us. No guarantees of course but I think it will happen for at least a couple this week by Saturday or on Saturday.

Especially if we go on to whip the Bulldogs this Saturday. Maybe after that game we get a couple of commits if not before. That's if we can continue & defeat UGA like we did UF. Thanks!

I don't wanna beat them like we did UF. I want to beat UGA both halves!!

One thing from the televised game which will have recruiting impact with some parents was CBS naming Todd Kelly, Jr. one of their Scholar Athletes for the game.

Everyone already knows about our Aerospace Engineer. Saturday they learned that one of our impact players has a double major in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology*. They also heard that Kelly changed his number from 6 to 24 to honor a local high school football player who died shielding two girls from gang gunfire.

When he arrived, CBJ sent all the right recruiting signals. Now his players are.

*I do wonder, though, if CBS might be mistaken. Up until then Kelly had been listed as a Biomedical Engineering major.

It's 15 games now to win the natty? Too many. We are exploiting the athletes, seriously. Schedules should be reduced by one game, for starters. I've been opposed to paying players, but big companies and the universities are using them to pile up revenues, and I'm beginning to change my thinking on the issue.

We need to trade up about 4-5 current commits on our roster
That's probably around what Butch will let go. I've always said around 4-6 commits will be allowed to go elsewhere so we can really go after Trey Smith, Lamont Wade, Cam Akers, & others. Whatever to get us into the top signing class for 2017.

The boat is a little too full of 3*s, I get it, some 3*s will end up being great players, but damn. Also, last class had 1 4* LB and 1 3* LB who signed. This year's class has 2 3* LBs committed. 8 of the top 11 ranked LBs have not committed at this point, let's go get one.

It's September. Things will work out.

I think there is a possibility that it could be evn more than that. We dont know whats going to happen with LSU now. I am not saying we will raid their class but what if some of their high profile guys want to come here? Also, depending on how the season progresses, we could see many more high profile guys want in.

For all we know, this class may have only a couple of guys we have committed now still with us on NSD. You never know with recuiting.

First part in bold. I thought originally it might be around 10 recruits that he'd let go. I got to thinking more about it.

If CBJ lets 10+ recruits go play elsewhere the media will have a field day with that & make him look bad or at least try to make him look bad. I see what you're saying now about LSU. I bet we get at least one of Miles commits out of this too.

I think CBJ could get us a top 10 signing class by letting 4-6 comits go & get at least two 5* recruits like Trey Smith & Cam Akers or Wade. The rest would need to be 4* recruits to get it done.

If he does go up to 10 recruits then I know he can get a top 10 pulled off. Possible a top 5 by getting three-four 5* recruits & the rest 4* recruits.

I just don't think it's going to go above 6 commits let go though. Possibly 7-8 but no higher in my opinion.

Butch knows what he's doing in recruiting & he will pull off something to get us as high a class ranking as possible. Thanks!

I didn't misunderstand anything. You said some recruits will be let go after NSD, did you not? 99.99% of recruits sign on NSD, so how are we going to let them go afterwards? Not to mention what PR nightmare and all around dick move it would be for Butch to pull the plug on some kids who have been committed for months AFTER NSD when they have little to no shot at latching onto another program.

Kinda surprised actually. I figured after experiencing that game in Neyland, at least one or two would pull the trigger.

The Florida win was a spectacular start but I get the feeling that some of these guys are maybe waiting to see how the season as a whole turns out, and especially the next three games.

That very well could be what happens with the 2017 targets/commits. Butch is going to let ~4-6 verbal commits go anyhow. However, that will come probably after NSD.

This will hopefully get us a top 10 signing class by doing this & gaining a couple of 5* recruits & a couple of 4* recruits to bolster our class ranking on NSD & dropping these few verbal commits thereafter or possibly even before for a couple of them. Tanks!

Well, TB, I have worn my fingers out reminding folks, but winning recruiting ranking is about like winning a peeing for distance contest; might be fun to brag about, but that is about it. Some of those 4 and 5 stars are over rated. And Butch has said several times he doesn't pay attention to that. So, unless you got friends from other schools that call you at odd hours over the NSD star title, I see no reason to sweat it.

I think the top target is still Trey Smith, and others Butch will make room for is Cam Akers and DeAngelo Gibbs, maybe one or two more I can't rememver right now.

As to any who decommit, I feel it will mostly be guys with grade or discipline issues. Outside of blue shirts, grey shirts, or pink with purple poke-dot shirts, I am not looking for wholesale changes in the list. Butch keeps talking about doing things the right way, and I feel that includes keeping faith with recruits that keep faith with you. And count on the bulk of those changes to be on NSD. Just like last year, and the year before. You know, normal.

Tony, we will not cut anybody AFTER NSD. It's up for debate as to how many between now and NSD, but they are Vols when they sign on NSD.
