UT is now a run-first team, but isn't Auburn, LSU, and Ohio State? Oregon and Baylor run the ball a lot, even if you call them balanced.
The question is how come these programs can draw major talent at WR? Auburn has thrown for 300 yards in a game 3 times in the past 5 years.
To recruit Wide Receivers...you have to:
1) Show them how their talents will be used and coached by the best coaches
2) Have a QB that can throw the ball accurately more than 15 yards
3) Don't show them an offensive scheme that has them blocking 90% of the time
4) WIN meaningful games on a National Stage
I can't check a SINGLE # above to show to a Recruit interested in Tennessee...
#2) You can show them film of Guarantano at the Opening. Dobbs is a senior so who cares how accurate he is? No high school player will ever play with him.
#3) An exaggeration. Our WR's don't block 90% of the time. There is a problem with an over-rotation, in my opinion but nothing that can't be fixed. Perhaps a change is needed at WR coach?
#4) Georgia last October was televised by CBS (i.e. a national stage) and was definitely meaningful.
Pretty much this. The rotation thing has to stop. That is one thing I still think Butch is wrong using.I guess you agree with my #1)?
#2) Guarantano has YET to take an SEC snap...and 5* Ridley sure made some catches as a Freshman last year...won a Natty too
#3) You MUST admit that Tennessee WRs spend a LOT of time in blocking schemes for runs, sweeps, QB runs...and I'll concede heavy rotation is a factor, as well
#4) Georgia win was meaningful ONLY to Tennessee...it determined #2 and #3 in the lowly SEC East...yawn!
Backatchya...

I agree with you on both points but also have to say no matter what star any kid is if he feels this way I do not want. There isn't an I in team. I want kids here for the team and their Tennessee family. This isn't tennis! No 5 Star receiver wants to be in a rotation, they want to be the highlight of the passing game. UT will be fine with what they have.
We are ok with or without Tee. This is a verbal commit until February and untill then no use standing on the ledge. Here's my 2 cents.
Watson is being projected as a Heisman candidate and with that weak schedule I'm not doubting it. Tee wants to play with him which is understandable.
What Tee fails to realize is, if at years end he is still being recognized as a HC and has a good year he will forego his senior season and head to the NFL as Tee comes in as a freshman. Has Tee thought this out? Who's next in line for Clemson when Watson bolts?
You need to check the stats for #3. In 2015, UT had 988 offensive plays, 371 were passes. That is 37.2% of the plays being passes which is no where close to 90%.
** Fixed a typo - it was 371 pass attempts not 317.
Comparison stats:
Clemson - 47.7% pass plays
Alabama - 40.9% pass plays
Oklahoma - 43.3% pass plays
Michigan State - 44.3% pass plays
Ohio State - 36.4% pass plays
LSU - 35.5%
Ole Miss - 51.3%
Miss St - 54%
Stanford - 34.3%
And a coach can only teach a WR how to catch the ball - they can't catch it for them.
Another interesting stat:
Dobbs - avg yard per completion 11.2
Watson - avg yard per completion 12.3
Very few, if any, of these schools are airing it out like you think - most are shorter yards with many of the yards, yards after completion.
$$$$ has a lot to do with some schools. I'm not saying Tee got paid to go to Clemson, but I am saying that Auburn is one of the dirtiest programs in recruiting and that's a big reason they do so well in recruiting.

We will be fine at receiver. Everything I've heard is callaway, Byrd and Brandon Johnson are impressive in practice. Losing Tee hurts but we are fine
