What a mess. In defense of the Kentucky bench players that got ejected…they had nowhere to go! The Florida players ended up in their bench so they had to get out of the way lol.

Florida lost all their size in one fell swoop. I still didn’t see where Kyle was involved but I guess she was.

Makes the rest of this game pretty interesting. If Florida somehow wins their bigs will be well rested for Alabama lol

Really it was more of one player going berserk and all the rest trying to stop her from assaulting Petty. Then the sister came in and the inevitable pushing went on.

Sherr went out sick or something, came back, went into the crowd and talked to her parents, then went back in the game. What a weird afternoon.

4 gone from each team

The "brawl" was the most interesting part of this contest. The game is not very engaging.
Kentucky up 3 but they have 11 turnovers with 2:35 left in the half.
Well, looks like I missed the excitement of this opening round. "Summer Slam" a la SEC Women's Tournament? WOOO!

Wyche bodied up to Petty after the rebound and Petty accidentally (mostly) hit her with the ball. They had been jawing on the previous play.

Wyche then took the ball and threw it at the back of Petty’s head but missed her. Technical was whistled on Wyche right after she threw the ball.

Then Wyche took off after Petty and her sister left the Florida bench and got involved.

Nothing really exciting but both teams ended up in a scrum.

It looks to me like Petty shoved Wyche in the back on the previous play (and I think ESPN saw this as well, because they included that defensive rebound in the highlight). Two hands in the back, clear foul, but anyway. I think Wyche came down the court seething, and then when Petty shoved the ball in Wyche's face, she decided she'd had enough. Not really defending anything Wyche did, but I wouldn't be surprised if Petty was out there doing her best to tilt Wyche.

Just to find something positive in this mess, big shoutout to Florida's #15 Nina Riccards. Robyn Benton of KY, arguably their best player, was about to get into the fray when Riccards put her arms around her (gently, not threatening) walked her to midcourt, calmed her down and they stood together while the scrum got untangled. If not for Riccards, Benton almost certainly would have been among the ejected. Instead, she scored 20 and KY won.

Nina Riccards your team may have lost but you did yourself proud.

if refs would call all overbacks . reach in grabing at the ball making contract no foul call way some sling elbows. some players sling elbows when other players try steal ball without fouling. refs are big problem in women basketball they some teams jump over the backs while calling tonch fouls on others. there been lot push and shoving in games this year i seen them on youtube which i check dalily and watch . maybe some players are taking a stand ref should call ball in face on #13 ky player. not waited for review. and this is sec is bull. refs needs to call all gaes the same no matter #1 ranked team or worst team. or star player or worst foul a foul . if a big name player commits five fouls she should foul out. the fans will not leave if refs calls five fouls on a star player. point being anybody can see refs call fouls on team and not the other. and some teams most ofthe time get the calls. untill that changes you never stop hearing they paid the refs off. or people thinking ncaa want some teams to win. ncaa clean their act get better refs women basketball games better to watch and less players getting ejected.

Agree whole heartedly, Mud. The ball to the face, in hand, was the trigger. Zero need for Petty to bring that ball up toward Tatiana’s face. It was a dead ball after a basket. Just drop it for the other team or the refs.

#13 sling elbows to clear space might hit flordia player some. then ball in face flordia took it in her hands.

maybe players geting mad is their way of telling ncaa they want better refs and fair clean game. why does some games several players get sent to the loeker rooms. and some where pushing and only tech fouls get called. just watch youtube players are getting into more. maybe besides getting other player back their trying to get ncaa to take action. just like when mens and womens in covid bubble mens players had better rooms ect.

Wyche is getting roasted, not for the running blindside attack, but how badly she missed in attempting to hit Petty with the ball.

Ah, social media always gets the priorities right...
I generally shy away from the twits for that very reason.

I gotta confess, mtv, I wouldn’t have learned the following: During the extended review, allegedly, they fired up an old Randy Newman tune…

All games more consistently ref by refs they less players geting mad. @glv98 yes fighting not the right but leting one team get away with more than other is not right two. if refs call ball in face that might beenend of it. they called t foul on #13 ky review but miss it or let it go when she did it.
