Never heard this term before the Zimmerman trial....in ~40 years of life, 20 or so. The networks came out absolutely insisting he was a white guy, trying to stoke unrest by making it a white guy killing a poor innocent black kid....

Back then, there was still a tiny sliver of honest media that called the other liars out when the truth was learned that 1 of the guys parents was a full blooded latino...so then of course instead apologizing and making a retraction...the right thing to do...those big 3 networks started using the term "white latino" ......and the rest, as they say, is history.....
