WWE Thread III

It was painful.... To watch. I'm supposed to believe a 200 lb woman has no defense for a 125 lb woman who's finisher is a reverse chinlock I've seen 1000 times. It's why the Sleeper stopped being a finishing move 30 years ago.

Agreed I would like to see Sasha get a new finisher

I especially don't mind the Bank Statement because it routinely follows a Backstabber. I didn't think the Backstabber was necessary against Nia (and contend that would have made it less believable). She was already worn down because of the long match, so she was susceptible to a being submitted by a move that puts you out (instead of a submission that is just straight painful). Plus, y'all are talking about green as hell Nia like she's Brock. She's not. She has girth, but doesn't have all-world speed and cardio to go with it.

The finish was terrible. It made no sense that she'd stand there at the end and let Sasha jump on her back without just dumping her. It was a dumb spot.

Nia Jaxx botching and lumbering around like a no selling zombie shouldn't be anywhere other than a filler segment and definitely shouldn't be within 5 miles of a main event.

They backed themselves into a corner with Nia. They needed her to become a better wrestler (and honestly drop some weight) in NXT, but they also wanted domination from Asuka. So they had to promote Nia. And with her girth, it isn't believable for her to not be competing for the championship. So either she has to lose via DQ/count-out or in a match with multiple competitors.

Then again, I'm on record saying that everything about Nia Jax is terrible.

No it's this horrendous bamboo structure that they used 10 years ago with the Great Khali. It's almost as bad as the Kennel from Hell match. There's no real good view because of the bamboo.

And I forgot to mention the rules are kind complicated for an escape the structure match.

So tonight's Smackdown was built around the 2 rematches from MitB and they both had the same outcome. I liked them the first time, why redo them?

The women's championship matches were crap. The second women's laddar match was much better than the first.

I didn't get to see much of it, i was watching America's Got Talent. If it was better I'll watch it tomorrow.

I saw Natty take Charlotte into the crowd, that's a good idea in a ladder match...

I remember watching him and Taker in that match. Was pretty bad.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe something happened to Khali the day of the ppv and he was unable to wrestle and they ended up replacing him with the Big Show. Khali did have a Punjabi prison match against Batista at a later ppv.

Good memory

Yes you're correct. Completely forgot about that but remember now. Happened in either '06 or '07 IIRC.

New Japan has a show in California tonight for the first time ever in the US. Gonna be live on AXS at 8pm eastern, 4 hour show. Cody Rhodes vs Okada for the IWGP Heavyweight title and the first round of the inaugural IWGP US Heavyweight title.

I am stoked about this! JR on the call too

How was it?

I ended up tapping out about half way through. I plan to go back and watch the rest today. The only singles matches I saw were a couple of the US heavyweight tournament matches and they were pretty good. There was a third group tag match of team Tanahashi vs team Billy Gunn.

I did not realize that show was gonna be 4 hrs. I'm glad I dvr'd it.
