X-Men Universe vs DCEU vs MCU

I like about half of TDKR, but the second half was a major letdown, especially Bane's fate. That was incredibly lame.

I'd say 3/4.

I agree though. Batman is no match for Bane...... until of course they fight the second time. Now Batman is owning Bane.

Oh and why is the mysterious "dark knight" fighting in a giant street fight in the middle of broad daylight? That was never what Batman was, especially not in this trilogy.

I only watched it once in the theatre but I remember leaving feeling mostly satisfied. It had its flaws but really so did TDK upon multiple viewings.

Id have to watch it again but I have a feeling it's still in the top half of superhero movies in general and probably the fourth Best Batman movie (I'm sorry but Returns is not really that good). It's definitely better than BvS.

Wait so you think one of Burton/Schumacher's is better than one of Nolan's?

There were definitely a few moments in Rises that left me scratching my head. But for me, the weak moments didn't ruin the good to great moments, and I still thought it did a good job of ending the trilogy. I also genuinely believe that movie is held to significantly higher standards than other comic book movies. Captain America: Civil War, for example.

Prepare to fight me on this one, I think Nolan's Batman trilogy is better than the original Star Wars trilogy. In terms of quality, not cultural impact, of course. More specifically, I think TDK is better than Empire and TDKR is better than Jedi (that says more about how I feel about Return of the Jedi than how I feel about TDKR).

Man..... you dropped a bomb on this one.

Very similar trilogies, both carried by the second one.

It may take me months to figure out where I stand on this one.

Hmm.... well TDK trilogy definitely tried to give a deeper story thematically. In general they are better constructed movies. Better acting too. So yeah I wouldn't disagree.

SW was ALWAYS intended as popcorn fair. The story was meant to be very straight forward. Fans over the years have tried to add subtext that Kucas never intended. Acting is corny.... doesn't mean I love them any less.

The biggest thing I hated about Ewoks was Lucas got lazy and used some of the same "language" that the Jawas spoke.

Speaking of the X-Men MCU, are they ever going to do the Gambit movie with Channing Tatum? That thing has been in development hell forever.

They finally cast Peter Parker correctly and Civil War masterfully introduced his spot on humor. Thought both Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield were likeable, but seemed closer to college senior than HS student. Both were more muted and withdrawn than the Parker I remember reading as a kid. Marvel has great writing that usually hits. There's no reason I should have liked Ant Man and he's a home run. Agree they blew it on Quicksilver, but maybe that was to clear up the conflict with the X-Men version...just kill him off in some cheap hero drama.

Snyder stepping down from Justice League. Very sad reason but this could be wonderful for JL.

Joss Whedon taking over.

Geez.... I've not been a fan of his handling of the DC movies verse but this certainly isn't how I wanted him to step down.

My guess is Whedon doesn't change much from what is already done at this point. Pretty sure everything has been shot. It's in post production now.

Joss Whedon is now also heading up the Batgirl movie.

Don't be surprised if it ends up being the best of the DCEU.

Anybody following this story with Joss Whedon? It's crazy. Apparently he's a tyrant on set and actors are finally speaking out and he's getting blackballed. Zack Snyder is saying he won't use anything shot by JW in the new JL movie.

There isn't a grain of salt large enough for me to listen to Snyder's thoughts on Whedon. Dude is openly and angrily bitter about having JL reshot by him (or anyone I would assume).

I am not sure what to think about the other revisionist histories being shared by "Hollywood" these days. Mostly individual interactions of he said/she said - certainly there is nothing corporate about behavior on a movie/TV set.

Have not heard of blackballing Whedon but that seems to be a popular tactic these days in society.

It's coming from people dating back to his Buffy* days. Snyder is just the one in charge of steering this JL ship that is destined to fail. Snyder may be the only one blackballing currently, but it seems it's going that way. I have no problem with an industry banding together and saying "this dude is an ***hole and we're not going to work with him."

*I keep seeing the headlines pop up from different actors but the only article I read (because my wife is such a fan) was about Whedon yelling at the actor who played Spike in Buffy and berating him because he became such a popular character. The bosses made Whedon bring Spike back when he never intended for the story to go there and he took it out on Spike, LOL. I don't think this incident is especially harsh, but it does make him sound like a psychopath.
