So we have reached the 1/2 way point in the XFL.
How do you think they are doing compared to previous upstart professional football leagues?

The best since the WLAF as far as North American performance. That lasted 2 seasons before it went away and came back as NFL Europe.

Compared to the AAF it's light years better. It's definitely on much more solid ground. If there are any behind the scenes problems, they've done a much better job hiding it. The AAF started having rumors of instability after only 2 weeks.

It's not "rumors" when Tom Dundon had to invest a quarter of a billion dollars just to keep it afloat during the second week. There were instability "facts".

It would be a great shootout and would be must see television! Do you think any head coaches will be fired following the season? I think both Tampa Bay's Marc Trestman and Seattle's Jim Zorn could be fired if the Vipers and Dragons finish 1-9.

I didn't remember it happening that early. The rumors must have been after Week 1 then or right before he put the money in, because I remember Spurrier came out and said some things before Dundon bought in and I think another coach did too. I remember the people at the AAF subreddit went off on them saying they were full of it, and turns out they were just telling the truth.

I think that's the same guy. Supposedly he bought in for 250 mill when they were saying they wouldn't be able to make the next payroll, but there were rumors it was really about wanting to own the gambling app.

I don't think that ended up being true.

I think he saw it as an investment but only if he could get the NFL to buy in to make the AAF an "official" minor league and he wanted to happen pretty much immediately. When the NFL said "Nah we're good" he said "Dundon out!"

It was pretty humorous to go to the AAF's subreddit and watch them go from praising him and everyone saying they were now Carolina Hurricane fans, to cursing him and celebrating when the Hurricanes lost.

Ratings were down for the 2 Sunday XFL games. FS1 game got 767,000 viewers and the ESPN game got 833,000. The numbers for the Saturday games are not in yet for some reason. Those still aren't terrible numbers.

This week is going to suck though because one game is on FS2. That's really going to drop ratings.
