They lost several juniors and a freshman, all of which were their best players. They lost their top 7 scorers (which has NEVER happened to ANY team in the entire history of the ACC conference). Their highest scorer returning from last year's team averaged just over 3 points per game last year. Also, they weren't ranked in the pre-season or for a good portion of the regular season. Other than that and your comment that Roy Williams is way overrated, though, your facts are 100% accurate. :shakehead:
Very true. Williams lost an unbelievable amount of talent, but the talent on this years UNC team is head and shoulders above the talent level currently filling UT's roster. UNC was not expected to do what they have done because most of us had no clue the talent level on that team would be what it is. IMO UNC's success is much more a product of talent that William's "great" coaching abilities. This award seems to be much like the Heisman.....the best man usually does not win.(tvolsfan @ Mar 6 said:they lost a lot, but they probably have 4 times the talent in freshman then we have now. i hate to say it but that is true. the big schools keep getting it in. i dont see why no one thought unc was going to be good. in basketball, you can win a good junk of games with freshman. if you told me unc would be here i wouldnt be surprised.
i remember people saying (including me) nit would be a huge acomplishment.
