Yahoo NFL combine math = UT underachievers

We gave up 48 points to a 5-7 Sun Belt team. Like pj said, O wasn't the problem.

This line of reasoning is so off kilter. None of the "underachievers" played on D. May have been a lot better off if they had.

If there were couple of people on that list from our D, i would say we underachieved. How can we even think about putting the losses on O and call them underachievers.

We had our main WR coming off of ACL, a first year WR from Juco and a poor running game the previous year.

I agree. This article is severely flawed. The logic the writer uses to come up with this list of over/under achieving teams is just "combine players are doing good....their team was bad = team underachieved". There are way more factors involved like you guys have already mentioned. The picture on the front page of yahoo was of CP and it said "See what teams underachieved". I agree that it's unfair to say the team underachieved just because a few star players are doing well in the combine.

However, all that said.....we did underachieve to all of our expectations. I just disagree with a writer that doesn't know jack about our team immediately throwing us out there as underachievers just because his flawed formula he came up with based on combine results says so.

We had a couple defensive former Vols there, that left for other schools.

We've known this all along. We have as much top tier talent as just about anybody. We needed a little more depth, and obviously weren't a well coached team.

Except for the OL, we will have less experience than last year and we will be a much better team. It is about attitude. Our coaches have it; our players appear to have it. I can hardly wait for the season to get here. Our offense will be exceptional and our defense will be greatly improved.

Our offense scored 10 points on Vanderbilt. They had problems.

I blame that on coaching. Dooleys fate was already sealed by that game. And yes, I remember Tyler sucking it up but, it seemed he had already given up on dools and is not necessarily a reflection of talent.

Glad to see these guys doing well. But its no surprise cause the O wasn't lacking talent. Its funny how people form thiere opnions off articles like these from people who have no clue of what they are talking about. They don't know jack about the situation at UT.

Saying that last yrs team was not well coached is ridic. The O was obviously well coached if anything. The D had its issues but all knew the transition was going to be tough when all on here were ecstatic about it. People bash these kids on D for being so bad but they played there butts off for UT. The Os performance this past season showed what stability was like. 4yrs of Chaney and getting the system in place proved to me that 4-5 yrs not 2.5 is about the # we need to really judge.

I'll stick to my opinion that Bray's attitude really hurt us on the field more than helped. His raw ability was great but he wasn't maturity, work ethic, and I'll even throw in his lack of respect for authority wasn't enough to handle the level that UT football is at. If he was a mature student of the game we would have pulled some wins out. That's another reason why I believe our situation at QB is the best its been in a while and really looking forward to it. They may not have the arm strength of Bray, but I'm thinking they are better mentally and attitude wise.

All imho of course...

But they put up how many on Georgia?? I think you saw another one of Dooley's teams quit on him and not our offense having problems. The second best offense in TN history..... problems weren't there.

Should have read this before I posted, but I agree 100%. We lost to Kentucky the year before.. lol... I hate even believing that was possible to happen. It was the same situation Dooley lost control and Shi* hit the fan. Glad he is no more

I don't know how this year goes but I know whoever is the starting qb will have the best Oline in the nation to begin his TN starting career. That's why I think this year will be better offensively than some do.
