Yahoo NFL combine math = UT underachievers

Dang - I didn't realize that our 35 points per game was only 4th best in the league. Especially with some saying it was the best or 2nd best offense in UT history.

Well you must take into consideration that they got the benefit of playing against our D. We gave up 44 to bammer and 51 to UGA.

But they put up how many on Georgia?? I think you saw another one of Dooley's teams quit on him and not our offense having problems. The second best offense in TN history..... problems weren't there.

Yeah, the offense put up alot of points when we got into a huge deficit, but still fizzled when we had an opportunity to tie it at the end.

I'm not saying the offense was terrible. But alot of the stats they put up are misleading. Alot of those games turned into shootouts, so both offenses put up huge numbers. Its great our offense was able to almost keep up in those games, but still, when it came right down to it, they didn't really make the clutch plays it took to actually win. I realize the defense put them in a tough spot, but the defense also necessitated gameplans (for both teams) that resulted in the big stats our offense put up. The offense always scored the points the other team was able to give up and the few times the other team's defense had to stiffen and get a stop (at the ends of the Georgia, South Carolina, and Florida games, for instance), our offense was beaten by that defense.

I blame that on coaching. Dooleys fate was already sealed by that game. And yes, I remember Tyler sucking it up but, it seemed he had already given up on dools and is not necessarily a reflection of talent.

 Hate to say it, but I think they quit in that game. Bray on the bench was hard to watch...and it clear. Yahoo hates us!:finger3:
