Yanks at Braves 6/23

I guess I should have asked permission first before liking baseball or a certain team? Last time I checked we are in American.

I played basketball, football, and God only knows why soccer (which I can not stand to watch a game of now) in school. For some reason I had a dislike for baseball at the time. But once I watched a game in person I gained the patience for it. Also look at their past 2-3 seasons.... How could I be consider a front-runner with those years. I personally could care less about what happen in the past. Seeing how I didn't follow them or watch a game. Tons of overpaid talent with lousy results.

Also feel free with tagging me with any title you please. I could honestly careless, and I'm very comfortable with that statement. :good!:

Two to three whole years. Man, how you've suffered. You sound like another Yankees fan I know; she was seriously complaining to me not long ago that it is tough being a Yankees fan these days because it's been eight whole years since their last championship. Cry me a freaking river.

It's good that you don't care about being called a frontrunner, because you're going to hear it a lot for as long as you continue to root for the Yankees. When you just up and decide one day that your team is the Yankees or the Red Sox or the Patriots or the Lakers or Man United, then regardless of what your actual motivation is, everybody is going to assume that you're a glory hunter.

:eek:lol:Ok

If it makes you a bigger man to stereotype a person more power to you. If I went around in life worrying about what other people thought about me that would be pretty pathetic. There is only one person that I live my life for and he is risen.

Also your the only person in my short 2-3 years of watching and liking baseball that has cared enough to take the time to stereotype me. So thanks for the attention! And God knows I will never ask for tickets again on here because I'm going to avoid the front-runner police. The ignore feature has been activated.

And in closing have a very nice day.

That's why most people post on a message board. For debate and to give their opinions.

Everybody stereotypes you as a Yankee fan in the south. Add on that you claim that you suddenly became a fan of the most trendy and successful team, and support the authenticity of your fandom with such things as "they have won a championship in years, therefore I cannot be a front runner," and not a soul on earth believes your love is genuine.

smoke is a yankee fan through and throgh, i can vouch for that. Plus, being a Yankee fan is about as cool a trend as acid washed jeans in my book.

this post was made to try to find some tickets for a game and it gets turned into a "let me see how many jabs i can throw at this guy" fest. so are you guys both saying that your favorite teams suck now, have sucked forever and will forever suck? if not then i guess you're frontrunners too, with your theory

The amusing thing about these glory hunters is how defensive and indignant they always get when you accuse them of frontrunning. Everybody's got a story about how their support for the team is genuine, has nothing to do with championships or the star power of their players, etc etc. Just once I'd like to see somebody cheerfully admit it. E.g., "Yeah, I know, I know -- I started watching them during the playoffs a few years ago and really liked some of their players, so ever since then I've found myself cheering for them." And there's nothing really wrong with that, but you'll never hear somebody just fess up to it like that. It's always "How DARE you accuse me of being a bandwaggoner! I am a REAL FAN and I was a REAL FAN even in the bad years, when the Yankees/Red Sox/Blue Devils/Tarheels/Trojans/Steelers/Cowboys/Lakers/XXXXXX weren't winning at all!" It's like listening to my four-year-old deny that he crapped in the bathtub when he's the only one sitting in there.

In other words: "I don't care at all what you're saying about me, and to demonstrate how little I care about it, I'm going to put you on my ignore list." Whatever. Most of the real Yankees fans I've run into have been tougher than that.

The one I quoted wasn't about tickets.

I didn't rip you, just giving my opinion that fans of dominate schools and franchises without any geographical or familial ties to the team are usually bandwagon supporters. Even if they were initially frontrunners or choose the team because of something immaterial, if one maintains support of a team beyond childhood that's okay with me. It's just that 99% of kids are like my friends and I from 3rd grade at Cedar Bluff - no one's a 9ers fan anymore!
