You and the other A&M fans on this board have earned your school another supporter as long as you aren't playing my Vols.

Gig 'Em. ;)

Make that two supporters. The Aggie fans on here are nothing but class. I wish you guys well next year. Hopefully the next time we meet will be in the BCS title game.

But as far as Southern California and Oklahoma go, I really believe that both of those teams are so incredibly good, two of the best teams in easily 50 years of college football, that saying we would BEAT either of them is a stretch. We could definitley hang with them, and the margin against neither would be lopsided when we're on our A-game, but a win... I think just too tall of an order. [/quote]
:yikes: In 50 years? How many years of football have you watched? 5 to 7 maybe?

PS I've never considered him an "us" or "we". Milo, you're definitely a PAC10 fan at heart.

Okay... Let's look at it this way. How often do you have two undefeated teams facing off for the title? How many times are there four Heisman finalists playing? How many times are there two Heisman winners playing? These two teams have shown dominance on a level that I know is seldom seen once a season. And to have two like this in the same game playing against eachother... I don't know how anybody could deny that this is the best title matchup to happen in a long, long time.

I've been getting sick of those of you who shun me because I root Pac-10. Be glad you have another fan of the Tennessee program.

We played amazingly well on both sides of the field. It was great for us to come well prepared and disciplined to a bowl game. for a change. As far as beating anyone I'm just happy to beat Texas A&M . That Norte Dame loss almosted killed me, I don't want to get greedy.

Milo, I consider you to be a very valuable poster to this board due to your insight into other conferences. You should feel free to root for any team(s) you like. I don't think anyone is "shunning" you, but you need to understand how Southerners are about their football and their football conference. Its kinda like a dysfunctional family. We can rip each other apart and hate on each other all we want, but let somebody from another conference do it and you have a fight on your hands. Nothing personal against you, hun. That's just how we are.

I take exception with Milo assuming that only OU and USC can recruit "Stud" players. UT has a roster full of them as well. Its Phillip Fulmers greatest strength as a coach is getting kids to step on the BIG ORANGE bus.

We play SEC ball here and one thing that is a gimme is on any given saturday, any SEC team can win. We arent top heavy. We dont have one or two dominant teams (a la Pac-10). Thats why SEC schools are constantly at or near the top of a lot of polls. Even those in the know (on the left coast), KNOW about SEC football.

UT, UGA, BAMA, UF, LSU and this year Auburn all can compete with anybody in the country, on the field or in recruiting. We all arent sitting here in the mountains, chewin our backy, mindin the moonshine still with no shoes on ya know.

But for what it is worth, I have enjoyed reading all of your posts. I just take exception with the one previous.

It's a matter-of-opinion thing, I suppose. I think USC (obviously), Cal, Arizona State, and Oregon State could hang with most teams in the country. It's a similar amount of teams relative to both conference's sizes, as the SEC has two more teams.

I am familiar with how the SEC plays football, though. I watched more than just the Tennessee games this season. I watched some Bama, some Auburn, some Florida and some Georgia. You guys have a very smashmouth-style of football, which I respect. If I were a head coach, I'd run the ball up the gut and eat up clock which is what I see a lot of in your conference. Way to play ball.

And as we've all said before, saying which conferences are truly better is just silly. Each one has their own dynamic, and we'd have to have an interconference season lasting a year and a half to truly prove who is better.

What I'm saying is, props. SEC is a great conference and has some great teams in it.

Now let's end this and enjoy the damned Cotton Bowl victory!

who cares about 4 hiesman trophy candidates competing, the heisman trophy is a joke, Auburn would wipe the floor with either USC or OK, and Urban Meyers will have to tighten his jock to compete in the SEC. this yrs champion will be a farce (again)

For one thing, the Heisman is all about hype and has really become a vote of the best offensive players from the top teams... not the best players in the NCAA.

The last game between undefeated teams was a tough Miami team and a very determined Ohio State squad in 2002.

There have been quite a few Dominant teams in the past... and they usually don't squeak by teams with losing records like Stanford (USC 31 - Stanford 28) or Kansas State (Okl 31 - KSt 21).

I will agree that this is a good title matchup... but the best in a long, long time? It's not even the best this year! Auburn should be in the title game period.

You have to understand something, Gibby hun. This is our first bowl victory in THREE years. We were the underdogs and most "experts" predicted an A&M blowout. So our "crowing" is as much from relief ( at least on my part) as it is from pride. You and the other A&M fans on this board have earned your school another supporter as long as you aren't playing my Vols.

Trev Alberts on ESPN said that A&M would blow us out because of our previous 3 losses in bowls but we proved him wrong...Does anyone know why ESPN hates us so much? Well they pretty much hate everyone in the SEC but Florida...And why is that?

Ten points is not a bad win, even if it is Oklahoma. And Auburn barely got by LSU and proved to not be quite as dominant against Tennessee in the SECCG. I'm aware that teams have weak performances. It happens everywhere. The Steelers are being slated as the best team in the NFL in a while, but they have even lost one. But look at it this way...

Oklahoma shut out Texas. I don't know what more I can say about that. Any team that can keep a team like Texas from scoring is very very good. Period.

USC allowed an average of just just 12.5 points a game playing in a conference that you must admit is offensively strong.

Oklahoma's average margin of victory over ranked teams is about ten points a game. That's a pretty impressive stat.

USC defeated California in spite of Aaron Rodgers having 100% passing efficiency through three quarters and JJ Arrington having a 100-yard rushing game.
