Trying to sign-Gil Meche, Jason Marquis, Ted Lilly, Jason Schmidt(reportedly offered 3 year/45 mil), Julio Lugo, Carlos Lee

Trying to trade for-Ichiro Suzuki, Jake Westbrook, Vernon Wells

I'm not sure if any are true, though the Schmidt offer was announced on the radio, but any would be a help. Alot of what the Cubs do will depend on the payroll ceiling. It has been raised since the Trib had some changes. I've heard 120-125 mil, 140 mil, 160 mil, and unlimited. I would say it is around 140 since 148 is luxury tax limit. If that is the case, we have about 45 mil to spend and not a whole lot of holes to fill(deep bench and bullpen). We could add a field starter or two(or upgrade) and/or 2-3 starting pitchers depending on how much we have to spend.
