In the SEC, trench warfare is the final determinant.
We will only go as far as our limitations on the offensive line can take us.
Our 5 starters plus Davis and Johnson have to get and stay healthy.
Otherwise, there are some behemoth defensive linemen that can do what OU did to Nico.
Two strip search fumbles to Bama, UGA, and maybe even UK could be deadly.
Our dline will do its share of damage too, of course.
And our back 7 on defense has been surprisingly stout so far.
Admittedly against 4 relatively weak offenses.
Facing a true running QB in Fayetteville will be telling. His legs are much scarier than his arm, however.

If our oline could just be a little above average, I think we have enough talent at all other offensive positions to put up some big numbers against most of our final 8 regular season opponents.

I still think we end up 10-2, losing to Bama and UGA and we are the 4th team out of 4 SEC teams that makes the playoffs.

And as I've said before, those seeking to make Nico, Volgod 2.0 ignore the fact he is still a relatively inexperienced, frosh/soph QB. AND, we will get reminded of that as the season progresses. Talented as he is, this is the SEC. He has yet to endure a season that's yet to come. No question, how well the OL holds up,
will determine how well Nico holds up. This will also be where those of us who mention his still lanky and thin frame will be a factor as well. Until then--the game is afoot. GO VOLS!!!

I think there’s been a lot of overreaction posts since the Bama vs UGA game (not saying yours is OP). The thing that I’m not seeing being discussed is the idea that we’re going to improve and progress. History shows that under Heupel we really hit our stride at the beginning of October . Things really took shape in 21 when the light came on . In 2022 we played our best football of the season. Last year wasn’t pretty overall, and is likely the exception, but had wins over aTm and Uk. We played well enough to blowout Bama in the first half, but didn’t close. Our schedule shapes up nicely with the bye to get healthy and then hit the ground running. October 19th has the potential to be an all-timer .

We need Heard and if not Heard, Larry Johnson should be LT. Davis should be replacement at RT for Campbell. Rest of line is solid and decent backup options at Guard.

I am just hoping Heard and Campbell can get healthy and stay healthy through the Bama game.
Per Brent Hubbs, someone will have to platoon with Campbell for likely the rest of the season because of his knee. He indicated the best scenario is Heard gets healthy and Johnson splits time with Campbell. Davis is the backup.

It’s always been a line of scrimmage league.
Hooker, Hyatt, and Co took UT a long way with a less than optimal O Line, but the foundation of any truly great team is a bunch of big, ugly, selfless men up front.

UT has a lot of that foundation this year AND some very skilled playmakers.

The key to the meat of our season is how healthy and focused we can keep the big guys.

Strip search fumble? Is that new? Sounds extreme... 😎

Whatever it takes. When you put on the gloves and pants them, they’re going to let go of the football. Play for the breaks.

I’d say it works every time, but it doesn’t phase the Florida boys for some reason.

the best teams learn how to respond when they get behind. Just look at Georgia yesterday getting blown out by halftime but coming back and making it a close game
