You should hear the UK folks on the radio

It's really hard, but it's possible this year.

IMO this year is the year if he's going to do it soon...

I think once they lose any sort of senior leadership experience, which will be after this year, Its really going to become even more difficult.

Even after today's loss, I still think Ky is the best team out there. I think this will work to Cal's advantage and refocus the team a la 1996 when Miss St beat Ky in the SEC tourney and they went on to win it all.

Candy underachieved in the regular SEC season. They are they most experienced and probably deepest team in the SEC. They were both playing their 3rd game in 3 days. Ky isn't a deep team and that was in Candy's favor. After 61 years, the blind hog finally found a nut. If they met again, I'd pick Ky 10 times out of 10.

As I just posted in another thread, the last time Vandy won an SEC was 1951. They beat a 1 loss UK squad, who went on to win the Title. What coinkydink.

I wonder if this year's Cats will follow it up with multiple key players getting into serious legal and NCAA trouble like the '51 Cats, thus resulting in loss of eligibility, NBA bans, and the school taking a one-year death penalty.

It's hard to imagine even Calipari being as dirty as the UK teams of the late '40s and early '50s.

a uk fan I talked to today is blaming the loss to vandy on billy donovan. He said UK "got hosed" by the SEC refs against vandy after donovan criticized the officiating in his game.

A UT fan I talked to today said he talked with you and you blamed UT's NIT bid on Dave Loos which I guess makes sense

Losing was the best thing that could happen to Kentucky. Now they know they can be beat, and will fight harder in the tournament. They will go to final four easily

Agree. TN loss to Ole Miss was probably a good teaching moment for them too, that just because you beat them before doesn't mean they're going to roll over. Interesting how the pairity goes around, TN beats Vanderbilt last game of the season, Vanderbilt beats KY, Ole Miss beats TN. Hopefully, VOLS will do good in NIT and pick up more tournament experience.

They got beat because they decided to 3 ball against Vandy.

That team is not built for a three day/three game tourney. Calipari is pretty stubborn when it comes to developing his depth. I hope it comes back to bite him, but their tourney draw makes it unlikely.

I really don't understand their grumblings--UT beat UConn, so KY is overly concerned about them?

And Duke can't play with UK--not near enough athletic talent. If I were KY fan, I'd rather have Duke as my number 2 seed rather than OSU, KU or Mizzou.

They're babies. They'll whine about the refs when they get 15 more free throws than their opponent.

Vandy beat UK at their own game yesterday by out shooting them from the line. UK fans have no right to complain about officiating when you jack up 28 three's and the other attempts 13. Their excuse for why they shoot so much (b/c most refuse to admit they get phantom calls no one else does) is because they're aggressive and get to the lane and don't attempt a lot of outside shots. Yesterday the roles were reversed and it cost them. Just like it did in 2010 when they went like 2-24 from 3 vs WVU. As long as Cal lets these FR dominated teams to continue playing stupid, undisciplined ball they'll continue to falter in crunch time.

Gosh I'd give bout anything to witness the first ever 16 over 1 upset with WKU over UK. I'm praying our local boys play with a chip from hell on their shoulder and show what it means to truly be playing for YOUR state and not a carpet bagging coach.

Meet me at Double Dogs and we'll settle this over a beer and some wings.

I could probably see where you'd draw this comparison, but in all actuality, not much to compare here. When UK lost to WVA, they took bad shots, I mean REALLY bad shots, and lots of them as you say. I remember while watching it a friend of mine said, "Geez, they shoot as if they're the only guys on the floor and nobody is guarding them."

Against Vandy, especially during that last 8-10 minutes, they had great looks at the basket, and had guys firing shots that can certainly hit them. This time, they didn't just miss a few, they missed them all. It happens I guess. I don't feel sorry for them in the least, but the shots were there, and they had the right guys shooting them.

I do have to travel to the western part of KY quite a bit for work. Something else you said reminded me of something while I was talking to some fans (WKU & UK) while eating lunch up there. One of the WKU questioned UK's playing for state pride, similar to what you did. He was quickly reminded by a fella at the neighboring table, that WKU only had one more guy from the state of KY than UK does. Silence followed. I can't find words to describe just how bad WKU is in all honesty. I wish them luck, but the 16>1 isn't happening for these guys.

GO VOLS!!! Nice win tonight!
