You think a MLB team in Knoxville would work?

unfortunately, there are too many brave's homers for there to be a viable team anywhere close to this area to support a fanbase. it makes me want to throw up personally. in other news engel stadium in chattanooga is locked and boarded up, sitting there to rot. that to me is awful. Engel Stadium is baseball. so sad indeed.

It makes you want to throw up that people would keep their life long allegiances to clubs rather than jump ship when a floundering franchise pulls into town?

I really dont see any other MLB cities out there, and I would hope failing teams would be dissolved or sold.

Let's say the Tampa Bay Rays wanted to move to Knoxville. Three questions:

1) Would the city support building a baseball stadium?

2) Would East Tennessee support a baseball team consistently?

3) Do you think that it could work?

Just curious.

Uh, how old are you?

No way this could ever happen, but I'd absolutely love for there to be another MLB team in the south so every ****** person doesn't think they have to cheer for the Braves.

The Titans are doing just fine and i doubt there just happened to be that many closet Oilers fans in the state of Tennessee. Having said that, a major league team wouldn't work in Knoxville because we didn't even want the Smokies once it meant moving to a different part of town. What exactly did happen? I was only 8 or 9 when they initially decided to move where they are now. Didn't it have to do with an empty patch of land around Lovell Rd. and people not wanting all the noise or something like that?

Wait, people in the south blindly cheer for the Braves? Tell me more?

it's really insane. it's a great stadium and either the city or utc has just let it go.

engel at the time of it's closing was an aesthetically nicer stadium than than that thing with trailer siding they built downtown and back then you didn't have to be rushed to the hospital with heat exhaustion every time you attended a lookouts game. at&t is awful.
