Your Favorite Non-Championship Moment

If it has to be a moment: Jeff Powell's TD run in the 86 Sugar Bowl (that's when we knew the Vols were going to win). Others would be Jeremy Lincoln's FG block on the last play of the Miracle at South Bend, or Mike Terry's int to seal the deal on the 82 Bama game.

All of those are good but my favorite moment would probably be Conrad Graham's int of Hufnagel's pitch and subsequent 80 yd TD against Penn State in 71. Outran Lydell Mitchell and Franco Harris to the end zone.

Being in the Swamp when Jamal popped that DBs helmet about 10 yards up into the air when they collided on the sideline. Could feel that collision 40 yards away and the UF fans all around us just ooooohed.

Sucky finish, but that was a surreal moment.

wilhoit missing the extra point then burying the 50 yarder to win 2 minutes later to beat florida has to be up there for me

This ranks up there. You could see the drain on Fulmer's face when he missed the XP. I felt so bad for both Fulmer and Wilhoit. I'm glad he got a chance for redemption and nailed it!

peyton directing the band in Tennessee Waltz after killing Vandy

You're kidding, right? Most people don't consider a 17-10 win "killing vandy."

He was directing the band because UT won the SEC East with that win. It wasn't for beating Vandy.

Some time I spent with a co-ed from Brentwood after the '91 UCLA game. It was hot. So was the game.

1. '95 Alabama...The sight of Jay Graham running down that sideline was a thing of beauty, and the icing on the cake because it was the moment I realized the streak was over.
2. Miracle at South Bend...After how poorly we played in the first half? Are you kidding me?
3. '89 Auburn...After the strong finish to 1988 season, this was the moment we all realized those '89 Vols really were for real.

The most recent for me was the 60 seconds before I realized that a flag was thrown during the end of the LSU game. During those 60 seconds, I ran around my house 3 times and lost my voice. Such jubilee......and then it happened.

Oh, man, I know exactly what you mean. We were over at a friend's house for a get-together and were watching the game. There were probably 20 people there or so. When that LSU snap went bad and the play was over, I went nuts. I didn't run around, but I fell to my knees, shouting, "YES. YES. FINALLY." Then despair...

This.

Stephens carrying the team. The game being moved to the end of the year due to 9/11. This game just had a different feeling than the other UT/Florida games.

We were at that game. It was my daughter's sixth birthday. She loved it, as did we all. Man, that was a sweet night to be sitting in the middle of the UF law school section, even with all the foul language.
