Okay, can you remember the first time you went to K-town and saw your very first Tennessee football game?

Tell us about it! :rocks:

My first one wasn't even in Knoxville. It was 1982 against Ga Tech in Atlanta. I was 9 years old.

It was the week after we beat Alabama for the first time in like 11 years and we had a major letdown. Fuad Reveiz hit a 60 yard field goal right before halftime . . . but we still lost by 10.

I was there too. Playing for overtime and suddenly BOOM - Graham goes 79 yards for the winning score. What a great ending for your first game!

 My first game was a homecoming game in 1979. I am not sure who they played since I was only 2 years old at the time. I wore my little bright orange snowsuit, so it must have been cold. Anyone know who we played for homecoming in '79?

Knoxville - 1985 - Vanderbilt

Tennessee wins the SEC for the first time in forever. THe goal posts came down, people were throwing sugar cubes. What a welcome home back to Tennessee, and my first year in Knoxville.

The first one I remember was 1979, 80 or 81 (I don't remember the year but guessing 80). I might have been to one as a kid but this was when I was 17.

Pitt vs UT at Knoxville. Only UT highlight was a Willie Gault kick-off return for a TD.

Pitt had Hugh Green (Tampa Bay) and Ricky Jackson (New Orleans) as DE's. They were monsters. RJ had the longer Pro career but Hugh Green was the real destroyer of the 2. (Anyone remember Hugh Green?) They wreaked havoc.

I started UT in Fall of 1981. Went to a few games but the best was Bama in 1982. First win in twelve years (anyone else there?). My best friend's band (Smokin Dave and the Premo Dopes) played at Hobo's that night. Outstanding.

With any luck, mine will be the 2005 season opener against UAB with a 40-point Vols victory. :good:

I went to 2 UAB games last year and saw 2 others. UT will handle them but Darryl Hackney the QB is awesome. He's built like a linebacker and looks like Charles Barkley. He's about 250 but very nimble and a cannon arm with touch. He's short though (6'1").

Anybody see the ESPN Friday night game? A DB came up to tackle him when he was scrambling. Hackney put a wicked stiff arm on him and the guy just melted away. Hackney turned a broken play into a quick 20. He also threw 5 TD's. Top receiver is gone though.

They show flashes. Should be fun - but the Vols will wear them down.

Well I am hoping my first home vols game will be in Knoxville on Sept. 3 against UAB!!

But my first UT game was in 97 I think... it was in Auburn and I remembering seeing Jamal Lewis running on a torn ACL for a 67 yard TD run I also remember the goal line stand the D put up when Auburn could not get it in from the 1 yard line and they had 4 tries!
