I know everyone hates it because of 1997, but I'm just curious to see what everyone looks like. I think #1 is pretty obvious
It's not the best player award anymore, everyone knows it.
IMO being invited as a defensive player is the same as winning it. Iirc suh was the first lineman invited since Warren sapp.

Moore is a good QB. I'm not denying that. But Jared Zabranksy was pretty good too. I don't see all the love Moore gets.
Moore is better than Zabransky. Having only thrown 8 INTS in 2 years and a billion TD's is pretty telling. Didn't I hear that he could possibly finish with a perfect passer rating?

Being a system guy didn't stop Danny Wuerffel from winning it. Also, I think that if you look back historically the Heisman has been based at least in part on a student athlete's body of work up to the year of the award. For me, Newton has too many intergrity issues that are already proven (admitted and convicetd thief and an academic fraud) to merit the award. I guess that some of you would give the Heisman to a child rapist if his stats were good enough.
Computer issue he plead guilty to theft to get pretrial diversion and avoid doing time for a felony based on the value of the computer he stole.None of that has been proven (the academic issues, and I believe the computer issues were dropped).

None of this mattered for Troy Smith, who was not only suspended for a bowl game for taking cash from a booster but also had an assault conviction for his involvement in a fight that left a girl with a broken arm.
I don't think I heard either of those mentioned a single time during his Heisman year by the national media.
