Your Memphis Grizzlies Basketball Thread III

Yeah they may hide it better. Hiring family members to the staff is my favorite end around.

Technically Penny did that as a HS coach. Was not done as the U of M coach.
He’s been angling for the Memphis job since before Tubby. He got it because he had the #1 player in the country in his pocket.

I have no doubt what happened and agree. I just don’t see it as any more different than much of the other shenanigans the NCAA lets go.

To me the more interesting aspect of it is the ruling he is a booster from a donation 11 years ago. If that’s fact.

I cant figure out why Ja is on a minutes restriction. I can understand JV with his previous foot injury, but come on

He gave over a $1MM to the school. Booster for life

It is a fascinating ruling. I wonder where the floor is in donation money that you get declared a booster for life? Or is it $1?

I wonder if he helped other kids financially while in AAU that didn’t go to Memphis. Are they ineligible? Seems like Balin would use that heavily against the NCAA’s ruling.

He only benefits from them going to Memphis.

If anyone cared about Alex lomax I’m sure they could get him declared ineligible in less than an hour

Yes he did supposedly help other families out. I think it says in the article I posted they will probably use that.

Sure. But isn’t the rule receiving money from a booster regardless of where you end up?

Sorry, I don’t understand the Lomax comment. I don’t follow CBB real closely. I thought he transferred cleanly.

Penny has coached Lomax since the 5th grade
