Steep price to pay for long-term insurance because of Ja's immaturity.....

Hopefully Ja realizes the team gave up its first this year, it's most valuable long term pick (GSW) plus a PG that could net a first rounder all because he wanted to play wannabe gangster. The price could grow if the team has to move Clarke or Konchar to clear long term salary to avoid paying the luxury tax.

Huh? They could’ve just rolled with Tyus and kept the picks. This seems like a Brooks replay to me. But with better defense.

I see it as long-term insurance for Ja since Tyus is gone after this season. The only way you do this deal is if you don't trust Ja long term.

Smart is big enough to play wing next to Bane and Ja. Tyus is nice but basically useless when Ja is in the game, which is all but 11 minutes in the playoffs.

I get it that some don’t like trading away two draft picks and think the Grizz are overpaying. But the Grizz did not need another rookie from this draft and next year’s Warriors pick is unlikely to be a lottery pick. Smart brings defense, leadership, and backup PG duties, so I’m not against it.

This FO could’ve done a lot worse, like making a pick selection in this draft, which I still wouldn’t rule out.

If they pick in the first round, they are conceding the error in selecting Laravia, Roddy, or both imo. Already dumped Chandler. Last year’s draft, smh.

It’s not the picks. They’re picks in the 20’s and for you guys they are worthless.

It’s trading Tyus

Most angry Grizz fans reactions that I’m seeing is about trading away 2 first round picks. And like you said, those picks would’ve been worthless to the Grizz.

I haven’t paid attention to public opinion yet. I would hope it’s giving up two picks to not really improve instead of just the picks. The picks are mostly worthless absent “trading first round picks” but I’m certain our smartest guys in the room FO doesn’t view them that way

The picks on hand at this point should mainly be viewed as trade assets.

I haven’t engaged with Grizz twitter since the GNG era

I think they improved some with this. Smart is better on D and is willing to take a few less shots vs Dillon, while being more versatile, useful in the playoffs (vs Tyus), and a better locker room presence.

I say all this not knowing the market for wings and the ask (Toronto probably still wants a king's ransom for OG).

I assume they aren't done yet, but tonight feels irrelevant for the Grizz.

Bill Simmons had a good segment about how much you guys are going to like Smart next year. He said he's the perfect grit n' grind guy. He's going to be playing with a huge chip on his shoulder. Not only can he be your PG to get you through the Ja suspension, but he's also a better perimeter defender than Brooks and can play that role alongside Ja and Bane.

Everybody (Russillo and KOC) on the pod agreed the price was a little steep. C's sold high on him. But they also loved Smart in Memphis.
